For the floor lamp, I would suggest also varnishing the branch to keep the moisture from rotting it too much, and in the pot you could put down some glues or something then sprinkle soil over it so it looks like there's soil in there but it won't spill too badly.

Yay! You got this! It was so easy. I think the hardest part for me was just finding the right branch to use lol. If you end up creating one yourself tag me on Instagram or email me a picture so I can see how it turned out! 😊

It is important that you find a branch from the right kind of tree. Most trees don't have a bark that peels away that easily and removing it can be a pain in the ass. In those cases the finish of the branch will be different as well unless you sand it. As far as I know the only trees with that kind of peelable bark are linden trees also known as basswood or lime trees. They have heart shaped denticulated (toothed edge) leaves and produce small hard round fruit which hang in groups of three from a long thin stem with a special leaf on top. The fruits spiral down to the ground as they fall. This kind of tree is often used along the sides of roads in urban as well as rural areas, but you might not be able to find any branches of the right size along well maintained roads. Be sure to use dead, fallen branches instead of fresh, green ones.

I would love to see some desk/organization/school supply area ideas for kids since us moms are dealing with home-schooling! Hi Joy! Thanks for watching. So with the bottom I didn’t make it so that it would be flat. I just glued each sides together. I planned on putting diapers and wipes in there so that’s why it naturally looked flat because of the items stored! I hope this answers your question!

Hey, does the Hemma chord have an on/ off switch? how is this connected to the outlet?

It does!!! The switch it towards the end of the cord and I tucked the excess cord in the planter so it’s out of the way!

If you also sew a diagonal line across the bottom corners of your rug basket it will create a flat bottom for it. Look for bag sewing tutorials to see what I mean.

@leigha lugo. I wondered about that too. Wish she would have shown that. I would definitely want to "box" the corners on a storage piece so it will sit flat. That could easily be done with glue or by sewing. I would use fabric glue to make this project if you don't want to sew it. I hear there is a fabric hot glue available now. If you plan on laundering it at some point then fabric glue like FabriTac by Beacon would be my choice.

The cabinet only had 2 legs??? How does it stand on only 2 legs? Is it secured to the wall? Seems like a tip over risk. I love the cabinet and your makeover but worry about the safety Factor

So it actually comes with two legs originally and is meant to be secured to the wall. The cabinet comes with a few screws and has pre-drilled holes in the back board so you can secure it to a stud. I definitely wouldn’t have it in my house with my crazy little boy if it wasn’t secured. Hope that helps! 😊

@@FiaGarciaDIYThanks Fia! Now that makes sense that they furnish hardware to secure it. I had never seen a piece of furniture like that until I saw a DIYer build in 2 of them side by side in a narrow entrance way. I dont remember what they looked like before they were built in. I guess I assumed they sat flat on the floor.
