Never cheap out on oil! You really need to use Petronas Selenia Abarth 5w/40. specialy devoloped for the Abarth to cope with the higher tempretures these cars run at.

For those who care about meeting the Fiat Abarth Chrysler MS-10896; Fiat 9.55535-H2 requirements - Use RAVENOL VSI SAE 5W-40 motor oil (German Oil). I'm in the USA so I used their website : www.ravenolamerica. com It's much cheaper than the dealer Mopar Chrysler MS-10896 spec oil - Know that MANY famous oil companies when pressed, say that their 5W-40 synthetic formula (This includes when they state "Euro") hasn't been tested to this special Fiat/Alfa Romeo requirement. Also, I own a 2013 Abarth 500C - To do this great little car justice, I always want to WARN everybody about this hot little engine. It's very 'fussy' about its spark plugs - Don't use anything but the NGK plugs (NGK Laser Iridium SIKR9A7). Here's why : With SPORT mode off it runs great (fully stock engine) - With SPORT mode on and under 3,500 rpm it runs fine, idles fine, starts fine, slow acceleration/gentle throttle fine. - Now OVER 3500 rpm and at 80-100% throttle, it begins to miss, emanates machine gun popping from the exhaust, acceleration gets interrupted, it coughs and splutters. If I back off a little then gently throttle back on, it's ok, but when pushed it runs like crap. - This is all caused by the very high Boost of the "Sport" mode which creates faulty or OTHER brand plug "Ignition Interruption" inside the combustion chamber...

Don't forget the wheel chocks... reminds me of my videos lol... you used a new oil plug washer?
@wilnomadic3 жыл бұрын
Yea I think I replaced the washer. I definitely have reused washer before without issue as well

Good vid, thank you, except I found you don't have to remove the air tube. Just stick the extensions down through the gap next to the headlight to get a better angle on the filter cap, and then just wiggle it up past the air tube to remove (at least you can on a 2013 Abarth). It'll drip a bit of oil on a couple things but just reach down with a paper towel to clean it up.

Removing the air tube makes the job much easier.

MomoDodoBird runs well. I checked the forums and other members have run rotella in their abarth and had checked oil spec. I’ve used it in my motorcycles as well so was comfortable using it.
