Greetings from Texas. When I was on vacation in the UK a year ago I had a Fiat 500 Hybrid as my rental car. I switched the display so I could always monitor the little battery’s state of charge as I drove. Anything beyond very gentle acceleration would instantly deplete it, but it gained a nearly a full charge back just coasting to a roundabout. Does it really only add just a single horsepower? Wow. Overall the car would really benefit from about 20 more bhp. There just aren’t enough seats in the car to hide 20 additional batteries!

It's a little exaggerated, the 'Laptop Battery' under the seat is really just a 12v moped battery and the belt driven electric motor is about 4hp It's only to lower Co2 and increase fuel economy as 9 bucks a gallon makes that more important to most Europeans than an extra 30bhp

The car might be old but the engine is quite new, right? Much better than the TwinAir I assume. I love this version, I think I could live with that 🇮🇹😃💗

Debuted in 2016 and then moved to the 500 and Panda about 3 or 4 years later. The belt drive makes it very smooth, the car will coast below 18kph with the engine off and the restart is seamless. I really liked it as a cheap and cheerful way of getting around

In Italy, this Fiat 500 is much more equipped than the Fiat Panda (I'm obviously talking about the new models for both cars I mentioned). Many owners of this 500 are very enthusiastic about the performance and the standard equipment. This one in the video, I assume is manual, right? Ps: correction: I was able to understand that this 500 even has a 6th gear. One consideration: being a manual, were you able to drive it with slippers? Usually, with my Fiat, I find myself absolutely comfortable driving barefoot.

Yes, was super easy to drive and we have the previous 2 generation of Panda back here in the UK

I compare these things to mosquitoes, they are nuisances on the roads 😀 they can be fun to drive though. Is a Dacia a car or a motorised skip I wonder.

Lovely little car! Can't beat a small Fiat! But the hybrid stuff is all a bit pointless!

@@robertngreen6 with a rather aggressive Hubnut at the helm of the Panda doing the Traffic Light Grand Prix in Turin which has the same power plant and never leaving the stop start traffic we got 47mpg so it does work
