Thanks for putting this video out! My daughters first car (fiat 500) is also idling like that. This is the first video I've seen on the subject and it seems very helpful. She took out an extended warranty when she bought it. Let's hope its something that's covered. If not, it looks like she'll be getting her hands dirty 😂

Brilliant video as usual so thanks. My daughters 1.2 lounge 2009 is also ‘searching’ when ticking over. Will see in part 2 how you got on. Thanks again

Very interesting I think carburettor are slightly more intelligent than you given them credit for in that the manifold pressure does provide feed back regarding the engine load. But a carburettor is a compromise and trying to meet all running conditions is practically impossible. Certainly easier to do it electronically and much cheaper as it doesn’t need precision engineering. Most faults I had when setting up my Zetec engines was the Lambda and the Mass Airflow Sensor as you say air leak can take you on a wild goose chase. I wonder if the sensor was unplugged if it would go from its memory map. Great video really interesting and enjoyable.

Really interesting stuff. Shame about the snapped studs. I'm going to get myself an OBD2 code reader now as them look super useful.

It certainly a useful tool and can help point you in the right direction

7 minutes removing the bumper - quicker than me! Just doing the same now as have broken studs, when you remove the radiator what about the front aircon radiator - is this part of the coolant system as well or does it have aircon gas in?

Has ac gas in it. So don't disconnect. I just swing it out the way and held it out the way with a bungee cord.
