Hey Chris, I don't know if you'll see this but if you do, I want you to know that what you do is what has pretty much started my career, kinda. I'm now in college doing motor vehicle maintenance and repair, sort of what you do. If it wasn't for you, this wouldn't have happened. I just wanna thank you for starting my college life. Thanks to you, I know more about cars than ever before. I love watching you, and it will become more important as my life here in the UK starts and changes. My car was not restarting without bogging down and nearly stalling after short errands, if the engine was warm. I would have to leave my car running or let it cool down for 1-2 hours before I could restart it. So far, I used seafoam engine treatment in the crankcase and gas tank, along with installing 4 new spark plugs and the issue went away!! Resting idle went up to about 500 from 200 but could still be better. I'm hoping after cleaning the IACV, throttle body and fuel injectors, resting idle will go up to 700-800 like it use to. 2000 Honda CR-V. Makes me feel good to work on my baby! Thanks so much for another great video! Here's my experience! I have a 99 Cherokee Limited (XJ 4.0L) that was starting to show strange issues with rough idle, stalling, and RPMs fluctuating. It happened fairly randomly. I was worried there was a problem with the fuel system, but it was suggested I try to clean the throttle body and/or replace the IAC. Then I found this video and you identified the *exact* issue I was having with fluctuating RPMs, as well as common ways to trigger it. In my case, rough running or stalls would randomly happen during hard turns, the transmission shifting gears, or me shifting from P/R to D. I would also experience periods of very rough idle with low/fluctuating RPMs when in park, or stopped at lights. And on top of all that, I'd sometimes have trouble starting the car; I'd have to tap on the gas while cranking to get it to turn over. Your video finally encouraged me to stop being lazy and clean the IAC valve. I also went one step further and cleaned the throttle body; the XJ's IAC is a little awkward to remove by itself, and I had never cleaned the throttle body so it was long overdue. I just finished up and went for a ride around town - no issues with stalling or fluctuating RPMs whatsoever! Fingers crossed that it stays that way!

First of all thank you so much for this wonderful demonstration of cleaning the throttle body and Idle Air Control valve. I wish we all had mechanics like you when we give our vehicles for servicing. I have faced this issue with my 2009 Nissan Sunny right after I received it form the workshop. I am not blaming the mechanic, but they must do a proper test run before they hand over the vehicle back to the customer. They did a decent job servicing my car but yet I still have this issue. With all the symptoms you have explained, I believe, I have interpreted the issue correctly with my car as well. Now I do not need to explain a lot to the mechanic but to tell him to clean the throttle body and IAC valve directly.
@chrisfix Жыл бұрын
Thanks a lot! And unfortunately some mechanics are sloppy and are trying to get cars in and out as quickly as possible. They should be able to clean the IAC no problem once you tell them
