For 19 years, Buttercup, my yellow Barchetta has given me many good times and has been remarkably practical as my only car. She is a little bashed around her body, but thats 9 years in Paris for you, the 10 years in Belgium have been much kinder. I see nothing today that compares to her beauty

Thank´s for the Video, Adriano. The „b“, as we call it, is probably one the most underrated cars ever. It´s a Therapie-mobile: After a hard day at work, come home, get into the b, top down, and after a few meters, the smile returns to your face and you are just feel good! It´s cheap to buy, cheap to maintain and insure and give´ s more back, than it takes. I love my barchetta. And I never would trade it!

If you keep your eyes open for listings online, you could find one for less than 500€, and it is really well made, so it might be worth it for winters!

Thank you Adriano for the memories!... I had one of these when they were new, loved it, drove 100,000kms in it, moved to three different countries with it. In one year these become legal in the USA where I live now and I will import one immediately. I just need to choose the color. I had green but always wanted the orange. I too winced when I saw the power washer attacking the window seals... they were never very watertight.

Nah, go for an Mr2 MK3 much more fun and much better equipped. Drives better and build quality is vastly superior. Oh and it looks much better too especially with the TTE pack like mine

Beautiful car🤩, the Fiat Coupe 20 valve Turbo Plus was one of my favourite car's for a while. Fastest FWD car around on launch with it's incredible sounding 5 cylinder engine. But they were so nice looking too🤩

Grazie mille Adriano!! Superb video, shooting, editing, as well as the incidental music. It must have taken you a long time to complete. My Barchetta spends a lot of its time sideways....That makes for Grande smiles. But not so from the BMW or other car drivers. Take yours out on quiet roads. Push it hard and you will see what I mean. My barchetta is 1050Kg WITH 1/2 fuel. My visit to Bella Italia will be next year now. Very sadly. Ciao Mike

Ooo... red roof is rather daring...I’m an MX-5 fan and this looks bigger and more comfortable than the Mazda... the engine bay looks much more organised than Mazda’s effort with the NA 1.6...

I think both the Miata and the Barchetta are great at what they were meant to be, granted they are meant to be a little different. The MX-5 is already a legend, and rightfully popular. I hope the Barchettas will get a bit of recognition before they become too rare!

the MX-5 has a 230 cm wheelbase, with a longitudinal engine that has to be placed behind the front wheels to balance weight, so the very long front hood and the seats placed on the very back of the car. The Barchetta has 244.3 cm wheelbase, so they had more room to work with and, thanks to the transversal engine, has a shorter hood and the seats are placed more centrally.

I think you just convinced me to buy a barchetta. I’m a 193cm tall cry baby whining (with your front-wheel-cry-babies voice):”Oh it’s too small, my head touches the roof”. But you made me realize: it’s a barchetta type of car, a small two seater roadster with a tiny front window and NO ROOF. If one considers the Fiat to be just that, the fact it even has got a roof is an absolute bonus! Thanks for the enlightement!

Big problems with the crankshaft ! I had 2 Barchetta and always the same problem. Breaks were not good...

As It often is with youngtimers, It really depends on how good the one you buy is. A neglected one would surely be a money pit... Small mechanical repairs are pretty cheap, while original body parts are quite expensive,

@@AdrianosClassicGarage No rust just bumper side damage, so I'm guessing around a £300 repair and we can sell it for 4-6k but bought it for 1500 in the end. Was selling for 1700 but didn't get it down in the end to 1400

It's all easily available, including performance stuff, this engine was shared on other models too! Sick prices on original body parts, but some folks are making them for a more affordable price!

As a fellow Barchetta owner I shed a tear when the car washer used a power washer over the windows. These cars are not and never will be water tight. You're just asking for rot doing that!

Luckily this one pretty much is, and I wasn't worried because I was gonna go on a roofless drive after. It's very hard to convince washers not to do that, I do try every time tho lol

Why this car looking the front side reminds me of a baby Ferrari 550 Maranello, i think Fiat should've made rwd either front or mid engine as a continuation of the x1/9 nevertheless the car is beatiful.

Its damn fast IF you know how to drive FWD. Go in fast, gear down, and full gass. Its a front wheel drive. It will pull you throgh the bends (if you know how to drive it), not push you into trouble. But, its not as RWD, or a 4WD, you need to learn and feel how to drive this woman.Shes allways fun, but her limits are way beyond what you would think. Shes mean. Just gear down, hit the bend and give her hell. She can take it. Just remember, its FWD, you dont need to slow down like a retarded RWD car. And oh, theres no electronic mumbo jumbo here. Its you, the car, and the road.
