'Cheap and cheerful' is often a slur on a new car, but here it's a positive. The Panda's boxy shape means interior headroom is plentiful, so it feels bigger than it looks. The boot isn't huge, and there isn't acres of rear legroom, but for families with two small children, it's big enough. The cheapest 1.1-litre Active version is very basic, so most buyers will be better served in air-conditioned Dynamic versions with the pleasingly quiet 65.7mpg 1.3 MultiJet diesel engine.

My Panda is from 2004 and has made 150.000 km so far, never had any problems yet, I´m a very happy owner of this little car. Have traveled all over europe with it too.

Have you ever had issues with the gear stick?? I'm in my way to check one used and one relarive told me to stay aware about the gear changer to to clear and easy to engage

@@hernandezrivas awesome! I just bought Panda 2006. 1.2l engine. Only 70 000 km in the meter, in awesome condition, no rust, no nothing. Maintenance history is really good too (timing belt is just replaced etc). And only for little bit over 2k € (here in finland car prices are high). Hopefully it will run good!!

i got this as a first car and im loving it. perfect for all my needs. got a ten yr old 1.3 multijet. its fun and easy to drive. still does average of 45mpg. i like boxy shaped cars. visability is second to none (other than the tiny wing mirrors). feels like a big car driving it- you fotget its that small till u get out. fits in tiny car park spaces that causes jealosy in big car drivers. fine doing 90mph on the motorway. ive only ever had a ford focus pull away much quicker off the mark than me. can fit a washing machine in the back. plenty of character. cheap tax insurance and parts. its everything i wanted for my first car bar being able to get a whole push bike inside or have comftable sex on the back seats.

I used to like Toyotas until I have heard from a few people who have owned Aygos and Yarises that the transmission is very troublesome and in one case the gearbox died at 18,000 miles. Fiats nowadays are vastly better made than they used to be and the five year warranty is very tempting. Group 1 insurance, £ 35 road tax and 57 mpg are very tempting.

I just bought a red 2008 Panda with 140K km, I LOVE it! I have the panoramic roof and AC. I live in Amsterdam. Someone stole my antenna already though. That has never happened to me with any other autos.

Good review, great car. But I wouldn't rush out and buy one now. Two reasons; firstly, you needn't spend around £7,000 on a brand new one when you can get an 05 for as little as £2,000, and there are hardly any differences between a newer or older version. Secondly, Fiat are going to launch a new Panda by 2012, so you might as well wait and see which you prefer.

Im a big guy , used to play rugby as a pillion , but i did do my drivers course in a panda which was not great but not bad . Its a small car what do you expect , yet the ford ka has more space in front (which is what 99% of the time you use it)

Great little car, I sit very comfortably in it and I'm 1m 80, super dependable, in all weather, however it tends to fog up A LOT in cold weather even with the heat up full blast. But maybe that's due to the small size. But I'd recommend it anyday.

If your car has Air-Con, it's far more effective at removing fogging than the heater. 😉

I drive a 2010 Panda and I'm brushing my head to the roof, my seat has to be slided back to the limit, so my shoulder constantly pushes the B pilar. The driver side mirror doesn't go outward enough and the rear view mirror just takes away all sight because it is right on eye level.. I thought it was doable when I bought the car, but it's just dangerous and uncomfortable.. I'm 6'4" . I need to say that my driver seat is not height adjustable unfortunately 🙄(couldn't find one which also had aircon and a sunroof which I love!)

I think you will find the 500 shares the same floor plan as the panda, not the other way around, the panda was made before the 500

The 1.2 8v petrol is absolutely good on motorway, i have the same engine in my Punto. But if you can buy the 1.3 Diesel, its better for long motorway trips

@@geeteshrajkumar7443 I have the 2004 1.2 (Gasoline) and it's very economical. It usually averages 47/49 mpg (5L/100Km.4.8L/100Km for me and if you drive economically and don't push it much you can get to 51+ mpg. (4.5L or less)

I'm considering buying an '04 Panda 1.2 Eleganza as my very first car, but there is one thing that worries me. I'm only 5ft10 but I have long legs, so will it be a problem getting an ideal driving position? My sister has an '01 Peugeot 206 which I just cannot get comfortable in as my knees are almost scraping the steering wheel! Its either the Panda or the last generation swift that I'm considering, any advice? Thanks in advance, Chris

Rented a Panda three years ago in Spain for two weeks and 2000km´s. Only thing I didn´t like was the underpowered engine and the thing it burned fuses all the time. It had 35000km´s rental life behind it and apparently it was on the line to go away in the near future. Engine was a huge disappointment, no power at all, maybe a big bigger engine 1,4 or 1,6 could have made that car better :)

There was a panda "sport" with a 1.4L 100hp engine. Never driven that since they are quite rare but it should be a blast to drive! I've worked as an assistant mechanic for a year and I drove anything from SUVs to SLKs to little hatchbacks. Because of insurance price I went for the 1.2L panda as my first car (we had 2 of them to move around in the garage and they were a blast) and after I've fallen in love with it I saw the sport version and the subtle but significant job fiat managed to do in order to make it sporty is just stunning! the best oil for this car is motul 4100.and if y add motorkote aditive you will see many diferents like you never hear tak tak when y start it of parking after a looong time (even 10 days off)and the heat.the engine will never be overheated.the perfect was that this car hav got very cheap parts.and you can be more lenient at servises

@CourierA2Z Could Toyota have become too big too soon and cut corners to overtake General Motors? Also the prices the local Toyota dealer charges for what are fairly mundane small cars is astronomical- they want £ 7k for a basic 07 plate Yaris. A rip off when you consider a new Fiat Panda or a Hyundai i10 with a five year warranty and lower running costs can be availabe for the same money.

Henry Ford, Inventer of one of the best selling vehicles ever and the Assembly Line. it was also the first production vehicle fitted with a STEREO. The Windshield wiper, also invented by an American. FIAT (as you would say) Copied the Americans when it came to the assembly line, Car Stereo and Windshield wipers. Guess that's because they are best?.

It is a slowpoke but a very fun slowpoke with plenty of room for friends

@u1430 my had got fiat panta 2006 and sell it because it was with 170.000 kilometers and was taking oil from the engine and it was so unpracticle....!!!! i was ugly from inside and all with plastic...now our family is all toyotas.....my brother bought yaris t-sport 2002 model 110 ps 1.500 without turbo...it's 10000000 times better... toyota for a life...the iq is one of the most beautifull cars ever./... and box is fiat case it's like a box with lights....

@u1430 Actually, I own a 6 year old Mercedes C class, not the finest but it's better than that dishwasher. Now go ride around in that dishwasher and enjoy dying upon an impact with a SUV, you poor man.
