It seems that the 2017 punto removed the side airbags to cut costs and due to euro ncap the fait punto was removed from the market in 2018

Absolutely untrue, this is the base model. I have the same car with side airbags. Also the punto went out of production in 2019.

I think 1 star for 2017 is a little harsh. It seemed to hold together good and all the airbags deployed. At least 3 or 4 stars!

The punto even in 2017 didn’t have rear seatbelt warning and a few driver assists, so they gave it 0 stars by default. As you can see the car is still very solid and will protect you.
