Hello, nice video. The oil reduction event of these engines is a hot topic in Turkey. Some vehicle owners are Fiat services They say it's because of the engine oil the dealer uses. They said that Liqui Moly 4100 5w40 c3 engine oil did not decrease.

fiat 500L 14 95cv - buy new 12/2020 with LGP aftermarket BRC (install from the first km)= From purchase to the first service there was a slight oil consumption of around half a litre. Then the oil consumption increased by about half a liter during the distance of each service. The car now has around 86,000km. The last service was carried out at approximately 77,500km. During the distance between the last service and the current kilometres, I have already filled up 3 litres. There are around 5,000km left before the new service so I can assume a consumption of around 4.5 or 5 liters every 15,000km. I would say about 1 liter every 2,000 - 2,500 km. My trusted mechanic told me that the engine is ok and this consumption is quite normal because 90% of my trips are on the highway. I have always used 5w40 oil but of different brands (acea a3, b3, c3). Given the consumption, I have always gone for low-cost products. Almost nothing has changed, or at least nothing significant. Now I'm thinking of changing the grade but I'm afraid of not respecting the factory instructions... I'd like to try going up to 50w...

My Fiat Tipo SW 1.4 95HP -- new at 3000 kilomteres oil lever was below minimum eee wait a second - the dipstick was completely dry... that suprised me so much. I knew that at the breaking-in process of new engine the oil consumption is high but this was what I did not expect

​@@regularguyrepairguy furthermore, I noticed lack of oil after a long ride (650km in 2 day, highways, slightly mountainous terrain, temp. 38 Celcius degree). My first thought: "oh shit, have I just killed my car?" I did not have a think to check oil level so early after buying a new car.

My Fiat Tipo 1.4 95 HP, gasoline consumes about 0.5 liters of oil per 1000 to 2000 km. The car is 4 years old and currently has 30,900 km. I use the prescribed Selenia 5w 40 oil.

We have a 2013 Fiat 500L 1.4-95HP. When it was new, it was using 0.5lt/10000km oil. Now the odometer reads 120k km, there is no visible oil level drop on the stick. I use Motul 6100 5-40 and the engine runs perfectly.

That's because the engine has 'run in' or ' bedded in'. The higher the mileage the more everything has settled into place.

Had my Alfa Mito 1.4 (Starjet) engine since 2012 and have noticed zero oil consumption in all that time. Am religious with oil changes though, and always use quality 5w 40. Careful to supply my garage with the oil I want used and always drain off some from the third litre bottle before leaving it with them. Lazy / careless garages will dump the three in, thereby overfilling the small sump capacity and so creating gasket leaks.

I reckon about 2 liters between services (15,000 km). You really need to keep an eye on the level as by the time the warning light comes on there is almost nothing left. The engine capacity isn't very high to begin with and this may be a reason for the apparent high consumption.

My Tipo 1.4 95, new car it was about 0,45-0,5 l/15.000km, after 55.000-60.000 km it is around 0,65-0,7 l/15.000km (it stabilized at that level for the last 30.000km). Complete scale on measuring stick (for reference) is 0,5l. I check my consumption every 2.000-3.000km. Oil used SELENIA 5-W40 ACEA C3 (FIAT 9.55535-S2) for MULTI AIR engines.

I have Fiat Stilo multi wagon 1.6 16v, when I bought oil level was normal after 18oookms, it was shell helix hx7 10w40 from Austria. The car hasn't been drived 5,5 years and started to consume much oil, 1l per 1000kms. I have changed valve oil seals, Victor Reinz, all 16. The engine cylinders were like brand new, I didnt saw piston rings. I used Lukoil luxe10w40 and reduced to 0 oil consumption until first 4000kms, after started to missing 100-200 gr on each 1000 kms. Now I will test Selenia Gold 10w40, will see.

I have the same engine on a fiat bravo 2 and the oil consumption is around 250-300ml on 1000 km.The engine runs perfectly normal without any gases from the exaust pipe.Also i have fabric lpg system which I think is the reason for this kind of oil consumption.And the car just passed 300 000 km so it is okay for that mileage.

Nice video thanks. Same for me. Brand new car, check engine oil level at 8000km, there was very low level. Between 0 and 15000km i have add 1.5l of oil. It has 26000km, have to do oil service, i will see if better now. Do you know how to reset odb service message without pc and app? Manual solution ? Thanks a lot.

So you had similar experience. You can post here what will be situation at next service. For gasoline engines I unfortunately did not find service reset solution without OBD. For diesel engines it seems that you can reset service without OBD diagnostics, but it does not work for gasoline engines (I tried multiple times and 0 success). Buy 6 pack of beer and visit nearest serious mechanic shop and I think they will happily reset it in 2 minutes :). Thanks for your comment!

@@regularguyrepairguy yes i will post it. Tomorrow i will try differents method i find on internet. Turn on, press several times accelerator pedal... Turn off. I really dont know what kind of accessory buy to reset odb. It's hard to do self maintenance with modern cars😐

Yes, exactly this procedure did not work for me. According to my research, the best Fiat/Alfa diagnostics is multiecuscan. Good luck!

Odt reset itself one month later after the key appeared. I change my oil and touch nothing. My odb says 0 km 0 days and the orange key deseapered.

They use low friction Pistons and rings to help emissions and mpg, this leads to a lot of oil consumption coupled with the very thin oil

@@C64Lover it's not billowing smoke but the manufacturer states a 1000miles to 1 litre is acceptable.... The emissions thing is taken care of by the egr and/or adblue and the two stage catalyst and DPF. What comes out the tailpipe has been heavily cleaned up prior to exit.. Plus that's why the intakes all get gummed up with a combination of hot exhaust/oil/ soot. Dries hard.

That's the same 1.4 as on my linea, this 1.4 FIRE engine is a reliable one but with this engine oil issue, I fill 3200ml of engine oil every service, there's a drop of about 200-300ml every 1000km, I prefer to change oil every 7000-7500kms.

@@regularguyrepairguy Hey, replying late here, I'm using 15W40, in India, we do not really need 5,10W40 oils due to mostly warm weather all year round. I tried using Valvoline engine oil additive and ceramic oil additives, the oil consumption now is very less, maybe 400 ml every 8000kms, higher consumption might have to do something with my driving needs, my car is mostly driven in the higher himalayan roads here, most of the time above 1700m ASL where 4,5th gears are pretty much never used.

2.9L!!!! my Renault Megane 3 1.6 has 4.8L oil capacity , if oil capacity is low that's mean oil get dirty very fast and the concentration of bad stuff in the oil increase very fast, You have to change the oil fast on this engine to keep it alive as long as possible, probably at 7000 kilometers or so because each drop of oil has to circulate more times than in bigger capacity engines. I guess Fiat made this engine with small oil capacity to be able to fit it in their small models

tipo t-jest e6d temp doesn't take oil, I can't notice oil consumption even if driving agressively.

@@regularguyrepairguy it's been told earlier that t-jet doesn't consume oil and 1.4 na 95hp superfire unfortunately does, i can just conclude that t-jet does not consume oil after 55kkm of mileage but on the other hand I'm not really satisfied with gas consumption, it's not really fuel efficient

You should change oil on 5000 to 7000 kms. Max at 8000 kms Check google. Some manufacturers recommend oil change at 30 ooo kms but its not good for the engine. On many cars engine suffer from such long intervals of oil change. By the way not good, not bad for new engine.. I wonder how much oil going to burn when will be 10 years old?😮😅😅😂😂😂

Yes, some people think that even a 15 000 km interval is too much. In my opinion, a lot depends also on the driving style and type of car usage (highway, city, short trips,...).

Interesting. I would suggest to try 5w40 as it is recommended by factory. Maybe it will improve a bit.

@@regularguyrepairguy yes I will try to with the next oil change, cause I doesnt see any smoke, no oil in cooling system, and no oil on leaking from engine that I can see, also will try a specific to clear the dirt if the piston rings stuck on burned oil, that are not working properly as they should
