I have an uno 1.7 diesel , had it 20 years , it's a brilliant little car , rust free too, only driven at shows now , want to preserve it for years to come , . Have fiat cinquecento too 1994 , sweet little car too 17 years of ownership , used only on dry roads , .punto 1.2 ,16v CVT mk2 is my daily drive , fiats are great little cars ,

I’ve never driven a diesel version. That’s the great thing having a classic you can go to shows. The Cinquecento is amazing for towns, not many on the road in the UK. My first car was the punto mk 2 what a great little car brilliant engine. Fiats have great engines as with all cars they have to be looked after so they age well

Very interesting for me. I moved from England to South Italy in 2019 and was fascinated to see 40 year old Pandas and 30 year old Uno's still on the road. They keep them going and why not? Great video, thanks for posting.
@Mr-M-on-motors2 жыл бұрын
Sorry for the late reply Patrick, really oh wow. Where in the south did you move to? Yes me too I remember as a child seeing the original Fiat 500’s some rusting away. There is a tendency in Italy to keep something until it can’t be repaired especially cars. There are still mk1 Punto’s on the road. I’m glad you enjoyed the video, thank you for your support 😊👍🏻😃

@@Mr-M-on-motors Hi there, thanks for replying. I moved to the Basilicatta region, you're right they just keep them going and every town has a Fiat mechanic in it. Spotted a circa 1972 Fiat Mirafiori 1300 down the garden centre and obviously used as a daily runner. Can't remember the last time I saw a first generation Mirafiori in the UK.Moving here has changed my whole thinking about keeping things going. Once again thanks for posting, I've only recently discovered you so I shall spend the spring trawling through your back catalogue of vids.

Oh nice Patrick I’m from the Campania region just above Basilicata. Ah the great Mirafiori, my granddad had one and drove it to Italy in the 70’s big car as well. Me too I’m astonished when I see old cars still working fine. Your welcome, I really appreciate your support.😊👍🏻

I’m glad you liked the review, it was a little long. Oh cool is the S the slightly sportier trim? The one we have only comes out in summer for a couple of weeks, while we’re on holiday. The rest of the time it’s in the basement. I like car care and clean it every time we go to Italy.

@@Mr-M-on-motors I wouldn't call it sporty, but it has some more equipment than a base model, including electric windows and central locking, but it doesn't has as much equipment as the better SX trim. Mine is my daily driver, so it runs all year, but I still take good care of it!

Owned two Uno cars over 5 years and loved them. Quirky, reliable, economical. There were higher spec models with designs by various Italian engineers et .We owned one of them and they were definitely more responsive AND again; a delight to own AND drive. The lower BHP models were OK BUT you had to know HOW to drive them to ensure that if you were ie on a hill about to overtake a lorry et that you had built up enough speed otherwise ??? Uhh not going past that on a hill.👀

@@Mr-M-on-motors Does Italy have less road deicing procedures than other Euro countries? If so, could it be the reason why so many 80s and 90s Fiats, Alfas and Lancias can still be seen on Italian roads?
@Mr-M-on-motors5 ай бұрын
Oh yes in the north of Italy they have to be well equipped. It does snow and have very cold weather. In the south of Italy we don’t get as much snow and ice so cars are less exposed to the harsh elements. You still need to took after the car. There are people with very old cars still on the road.
