I don't like the VSC forcing a full SC. If they can do the clean up under the VSC, then go back to racing. If they can't, then just call a SC to start with. The VSC was over 5min long, then they wasted another almost 15min behind the safety car, and almost completely negated all the racing that had been going on for the first 1.5hrs.
@kben24Ай бұрын
This race had some very questionable officiating!!
@qchronodАй бұрын
@@kben24 I've noticed in several of the races that they will call for a full safety car for no apparent reason (no crashes, no major debris, nothing that the commentators mention). This is the only racing series that I've ever seen that in.
@StevePhoenixАй бұрын
The officials have been pretty clear about this in multiple series. The tyres get cold during long-ish VSC/FCY periods. The safety car usually drives faster than the VSC/FCY speed limit (usually 120-140kph vs 80kph) plus the cars have to line up in single file and that allows the drivers to get a little bit of heat into the tyres by driving a little bit faster and having room to weave. Cold tyres are dangerous, especially in Hypercars.
@foodfanatic851Ай бұрын
VSC is a thing so cars can pit. It goes to safety car after two laps. If a safety car isn't going to come out, that would be a FCY
@Sp4mMeАй бұрын
Fully agree. I get the VSC->SC thing for when a safety car is necessary, it's not a bad idea. But the big advantage for VSCs is that teams aren't randomly punished on their strategy (too much). If a SC isn't necessary, then a VSC should directly go back to a re-start. Just allow an extra lap for tyre warm up (you aren't allowed to weave under regular VSC which makes sense) if that's the concern and you're good.

I'm Japanese, but I find Fuji to be a boring circuit. The course is unnecessarily wide, and the only overtaking points are on the main straight. In addition, most of the areas outside the course are escape roads, so there's no tension about going off the course. The course was renovated in 2005 to its current form. Before that, it was an even more monotonous circuit, but there was no escape road. I know the history of the development of Japanese motorsports at this course. Still, I don't quite understand why this circuit, along with Suzuka, is in the top two of Japan's circuits.

In terms of racing it might not be, but in terms of overall standards it is.
@9t14a3Ай бұрын
@@kidpagronprimsank05 Since COVID-19, Super GT has become a Japan Championship, and the championship is decided by racing at Fuji multiple times a year. SGT is a globally interesting race series with cars of different regulations running together, but the course doesn't seem to match that at all. WEC is visually exciting, with races on courses all over the world. I think it's the pinnacle of motorsport right now!
@joe718gt4Ай бұрын
@9t14a3 I think it is. Especially with how astronomical F1 prices are. Way more variety in sports car racing, better fan experience, plus way more value. Also, been to Fuji twice, I actually enjoy seeing the cars go down the straight. Maybe because I don't go to these events that much.
@9t14a3Ай бұрын
