That player who committed the unsportsmanlike foul choked hard. Not only was that foul stupid, but also she had an open path to the basket that would have been an easy 2 points to put the game away and she didn’t take it.

The umpiring was far stupider. You dont make that call unless you have a dog in the fight. Its not as if that was intentional by Anstey with 20 seconds left and who was also clearly fouled. And a resulting 4 point play with 20 seconds to go is absurd. Australia won it. Usa had all that talent and still needed absurd umpiring to pinch it. Pathetic.

Just horrible execution by AUS at the end of the 4th quarter and a classic example of playing not to lose vs playing to win. Up 3 points with 22 seconds left on the 4th quarter and with the ball after a US turnover, all they had to do was score once to make this a two possession game with probably about 10 seconds or so left. Freeze the video at 1:09:19. Anstey had a clear path to the basket when she receives the long pass and the closest defender is at least 10 feet away. But my real problem is with Fowler, their best scorer. She had the entire court in front of her open with the closest defender (Becker) a few feet behind as the long pass initiates and was making its way. Instead of taking advantage and running full speed for an easy pass and layup, she is lazily jogging, which allows Becker to close the distance to her. This probably made Anstey hesitate about passing the ball to Fowler and that moment of indecision also made her waste a perfect layup opportunity. Instead, she commits a costly turnover that allows the USA team to eventually tie the game and force an OT.

1:09:19 Shelley makes a bad pass. She should hit the forward in the middle of the court leaving an easy 2 on 1 to the basket. Anstey could have gotten the ball back to shelley or the wide open guard at the top of the key. Anything except swinging ur elbows pretty much ends this game. Bad decision by shelley to pass instead of just holding the ball imo

Team USA coaching staff obviously had no idea what a special player Caitlin Clark is by sitting her on the bench. Five years later, Caitlin Clark would become the face of college basketball by breaking both the women's and men's NCAA Division 1 scoring record. She also broke the single season 3-point record set by Golden State warrior superstar Steph Curry. In the elite 8 last year, Caitlin Clark showed Louisville and former Team USA head coach Jeff Walz why she deserved more minutes of playing time by defeating the cardinals 97-83. In that game Clark scored 41 pts, 12, ast, 10 rebs to become the first and only owner of 40+ pts triple double in both men and women NCAA D1. Not even NBA greats like Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, Michael Jordan were able to accomplish this feat.
@danielpires8940
@danielpires8940 5 ай бұрын
Well perhaps you dont know that the women play with a smaller ball and in some arenas, a wider basket. If the men played with smaller ball, Jordan and others you mentioned would break the record every game. CC is good now, but back then she was shaky n defense and coaches dont really sit well with a player missing logo threes. Why cant you praise CC as a player and stop trying to complain about others?
@highlogic518
@highlogic518 4 ай бұрын
This was a team of talented players. Clarks play at Iowa is similar to James Harden play when he was being called the best offensive player ever in Houston. Both he and Clark are ball dominate, have good handles and tremendous range. What they don't do well is play defense, have teammates who are putting up similar numbers. The joke about Dean Smith was he kept Jordan to under 15points/game. Jordan didn't need to score 30 points a game while in college. He had teammates who picked averaged just as much as he did. When he arrived to the Bulls he ttook on the scoring load. It wasn't until he was able to trust his teammates to do things that Chicago began to win championships. Jordan was also defensive player of the year multiple times. Clark is avery good player but she can't win championships on her own. She will have to improve defensively and not take on the scoring load to win a championship at the next level.

@highlogic518
@highlogic518 4 ай бұрын
@@danielpires8940 you are correct Jordan scored 63. My mistake. Yes the Bulls got swept. I tried to point out that leaders on championship team often pick their moments to score, those champions learned how to balance keeping their teammates engaged, or in the scoring rhythm of the game and when to take over the game. It is something Jordan learned , I believe Clark is a smart player and will understand this as well.
@mkdugan8109
@mkdugan8109 15 күн бұрын
the only reason iowa ever got as far as they did is because Caitlin was so ball dominant. they made two back to back appearances and beat the defending champion both years but because they came up short in both championships doesn’t mean that the offense didn’t work. it only worked because of Caitlin which meant it would also fail when she came up short

@DK KK I've been to the USA and Australia a few times. My conclusion: Australia is on the right path, the USA is unfortunately on the way to doom. But they believe they are the best country on earth, they have huge problems and are divided and believe they have to interfere in all other countries and have fought numerous bad wars in the past few years. Many countries, including Germany, are very critical of the USA, especially its current president. The main problem Americans face is that they only love and worship themselves and money.

I'm not sure completely but I have a really good guess. Paige started playing varsity in 8th at Hopkins but didn't start in the games until 9th grade. Dont yall understand that Caitlin was not as good here. Not her play or shooting, or anything. Caitlin shouldnt have had more minutes bc they already had better players like Van lith and Bueckers to shoot near three or drive which they are still better at. It wouldve crowded their line. And besides this team istn like Iowa. they wont give caitlin all their shots. Caitlins so lucky she was in a team who surrounded her

So it's the second quarter in this game and the Australian team is moving really good without the ball and actively passing the ball to set up a shot. I'm watching our team and like they're loitering, no movement and like drug addicts looking to score they are having difficulty finding a source. What the Hell Coach ?!

you don't have to have your feet set to take a charge you just have to have established and mainteained LGP. Also, contrary to popular belief, you can get a charge in the semi-circle.

@@LazeChap hahaha. Sheet, hum? Hahaha I didnt guessed, baby boy lol. I've been in a NBA course - management- last year, in march, and PJ Carlesimo and Jennifer Azzi, told the group this is the reason why... lol There were some "funny guys" among us too, making jokes about female basketball and both put them in their little boxes lol. The equation for man playing with more resourcefulness - the word he used - was very simple: Free time to play + Organization - face no sexism. Easy to understand. That made a enormous difference. Have a good night.

We all know that Clark is at least one of the five best players on this U19 USA team but she did not get her minutes. The USA coach gave her minutes to players that are not as good because he is a coward. His weak character lacks backbone. He is absolutely the wrong coach to lead the team. Shame on him for being able to be pushed around. This game could have been won easily if he was not the coach.

Geez, that is not a great take. U19 is an issue of seniority and who plays the best at tht time. She had a chance to shine in the next U19. This team was so stacked ... she just needed to wait her time.

@@salvadorperez8537 Elbow swinging is fine as long as you don't catch someone where it should obviously be a foul. Even if you overlook the fact that, catching someone with an elbow above the shoulders is by definition a U-Foul, a secondary foul, after the whistle is also a U-Foul. Aussies had the game sealed and they spit the bit.
