Nations are often slow to adapt to changes in the NBA. The NBA changed to an all perimeter style of offensive systems that require defensive players to cover the perimeter, and most international teams still do not know how to cover it. In the Olympics, if any team does not know how to cover that versus Booker, Tatum, Haliburton and especially Stephen Curry... any hope of victory can and likely will disappear in an instance.

Spoken like someone that doesn't watch basketball. This win is not surprising at all, I don't get why people think the US is not improving in basketball and that the world has caught them or something. Wemby is one man, doesn't matter how great he becomes. France has historically always had weak guards, they will never beat the US if they can't find a superstar guard to pair with Wemby.
@aewisjericho88486 ай бұрын
@@razatiger22 your first sentence is craaaazy together with your last one. Do you know that France has the best PG out of the 2025 nba draft projected to go number 3 his name is Nolan Traore. Seems like you don’t watch Ball I guess
@move2003ny6 ай бұрын
@@razatiger22 Tony Parker was weak? Also, Wemby is definitely one man, but France just had 3 men in the Top 10 of this year’s draft. France is 1/6 of the size of the US, and will never be able to compete at junior level, but at senior level they are getting closer. This particular U17 US team is spectacular though.

They never were if we’re being honest. I mean yeah several Europeans and other foreigners are top players now but those are just individuals, but on the whole the United States best of the best is still so far ahead of the other countries that it’s not even funny and everyone will witness it come later this month at the Olympics when we steamroll to a Gold.
@lisaroberts85566 ай бұрын
The rest of the World is catching up with the USA. Western Europe and especially Eastern Block Countries have stepped up greatly. However, that doesn’t mean the USA 🇺🇸 isn’t still incredibly dominant on the Court

I just find it interesting how eerily quiet the comment section is. Imagine the hate in the comments if the US Lost.
@faceurhell6 ай бұрын
Not in the U-17's. Until these young European players play in Euro-Leagues (or a comparable international league), NCAA or the G-League, they aren't facing likely good opponents. The amount of "quality" players these countries have at that age is a handful at best. These USA players go to camps everywhere and face much better competition; they got dozens and dozens of players that are "quality" for their age. Additionally they often get more time with actual NBA coaches, NBA players and college coaches for coaching, and they probably sometimes practice with college players.
@faceurhell6 ай бұрын
@@JohnWick-qr4yc Agreed. France has the best shot against the USA, but I legit don't know how anyone on that team can stop prevent Stephen Curry. And even if they could, how do you also contain LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Anthony Edwards and Joel Embiid? That's 4 NBA MVP's right there and perhaps the greatest athlete in the NBA as USA's likely starting 5. Then you got a bench with only All-NBA players. You got great defenders off the bench in Tatum, Holliday, AD, Bam, and Kawhi. Then you consider the Eastern Conference/NBA Finals MVP Brown did not even make the team. That shows how deep that depth is.
