Mayor played by Gale Gordon. Gordon seems like he was on so many shows.

@@Krana-rt2yy And truth be told, he really was on a lot of shows. Gale Gordon had such a wonderful comic touch, especially when he was playing characters who took things just a little too seriously.

One of the reasons I prefer Fibber McGee and Molly to the Jack Benny show is that FMM episodes usually have a through-line plot in which you follow the characters as they seek to accomplish a concrete goal. While Jack and his gang are great comic actors, the plot usually plays second fiddle to a series of gags and insults..
