Make the shawl and let it be your knitting trophy! Who cares if it's never worn!

True. But something so fabulous should be worn, or at least hung on the wall like a trophy. 🤣 🏆

Aaron, I had a similar issue with a sweater I knit a while back and I simply sewed up a seam up the under part of sleeve. Then I wore sweater several times and when I washed it I kind of felted only the seam part ( flap) and then cut excess bulk off. The sweater is made of shetland wool so a sticky yarn which helped. Have been wearing it ever since. I used a straight stitch on my Bernina and shortened the length a bit and of course matching thread.

We thought the yarn might brighten up the room, and it did. 😁 🧶. For many of us, yarn always brightens up a room, right?

Aaron, what you're describing is just "taking the sleeve in". Absolutely do-able, especially if you can serge the edges. The only disadvantage would be that cutting the yarn means that the yarn wouldn't be reusable. But if that's not important, don't worry about it!

Aaron, I used to "struggle" with wanting to make things and never doing it because I didn't have an intended recipient. At some point the lightbulb went off and I decided that was no reason not to make something if I was going to enjoy the making! Now I have a nice future gift stash; it's been a great change in my "craftitude"- so much fun! My longest term WIP is a cross stitch I was making for a friend's wedding, they just had their 24 year anniversary. LOL

Aaron, do just one repeat of the shawl pattern as a wall hanging. Chip, every time you sit down to sewn, stitch down a set number of the spiral spines. Doesn’t matter if it’s only one or two, that will be some more sewn. At that rate you’d finish one block in a week. You both have these projects in hand. Aaron, I’m going to look at that same book for a pattern to make. Chip, I took my sewing machine into the shop for a Good cleaning and adjustment. January could be a sewing bonanza.

Aaron, be glad you are comfortable at work. About 15 years ago there were problems with our heating system at work during the winter in Wisconsin. I kept fingerless mitts and a sweater by my desk. Never knew what the temp would be, especially on Mondays.

Chip, I adore your snowflake sheep - it will look fab on your baskets. I am also thrilled that you got your payment returned to you. Fingers crossed now that you manage to find somebody to assemble the machine for you. Aaron, speaking of old WIPs languishing in project bags - remember when you had a make along for the flax jumper (which you reminded me of when you made a note to talk about at the end, but in all the excitement of the bingo news you forgot haha), well that flax is one of my languishing WIPs….that was how many years ago???

Yes, do sew the sleeves, it is a great idea! And wowza your skeins are gorgeous Aaron! Whatever you are on, I want some - Stitching every piece of the candies? OMG you are amazing! Cheers from Minnesota

I've been watching the Netflix Christmas shows too! I'm making Christmas presents but I don't think I'll finish on time. Time is flying. Cross stitch is fun. Those stitches are tiny ones. God bless her! Your background is so lovely. Ooooooooooo that snowy sheep...........I want one! I love blues! A Chip Basket is a Chip Basket and the season doesn't matter to me!!! They all get used.....whenever! If you're sick of your Christmas Story tee, send it my way. My neighbor across the street has the leg lamp on his enclosed porch and this year he added a Ralphie in his pink bunny pjs either a cut out or decal...not sure but it is perfect! Can I bribe you for a sheep Chip Basket? Pleeeeeeeeze!

Marie's quilt is stunning! I think that serging the sleeves on Aaron's sweater is a great idea. Many of the tourist sweaters sold in Ireland have sewn seams. I am a very tipsy drinker; 1/2 glass of wine and I am singing and dancing on tables! I will try and buy some cherry Pepsi if I am chosen for NYE Bingo. Merry Christmas (or Nollick Ghennal in Manx) to you both..
