There are two main types of fiber connectors, single fiber connectors and multi fiber connectors. Multi fiber connectors can connect up to 72 cables. Fiber connectors connects between the ends of fiber optic. Single Fiber connectors works either for single mode or duplex mode or both, and can be simplex or doublex. Simplex connects has one entry cable only, while doublex has two. Single fiber connectors are classified according to the size of ferrule, which are either 1.25, 2.5mm or other sizes

Nice info Several versions is not used today. I have worked with fiber since 1986. Now there will come OM5 (WBMMF) And MTP/ MPO you can find 96 fiber = multimode. Singelmode MTP / MPO is only = 12 fiber / APC Ore do you know any other SM conectors today with MTP/ MPO.

Great, I have 6 cables run from a boat house to main office, the all look like simplex SC mm cables. I need to connect to an older cisco switch with a mini gbic interface on one side and the other side has no switch installed as of yet. Any recommendations as what to purchase. My amazon searches don't seem to give me what im looking for

Why do they make so many variances, would it not make sense to have one type only? It would make plugging up simpler and no need to carry so many connecting cords with different types of connector.
