Thank you! My ladder has trust issues with snow or ice on roads. Car tire is the best spotter.

@@joeslightwork that was pretty smart - when you jiggled your ladder i was sweating it for a few thinking about ice and the ladder slipping. Looks like you tuned up grandma thief lol. Good video quality. Thanks for the video and stay warm! Happy New Year!

Interesting conduit for the inside.

hello. Excellent work. How much do they pay you per month for this job?

I wondering if fiber company that you do installs for have you put the isp side in the splice Trey because where I'm at, splice tray is both and they are not allowed to use the green connector in the outside box only inside box

Would love the the product info on that microduct for the fiber. Thanks in advance.
@joeslightworkКүн бұрын
Its PPC brand called minflex microduct. The roll at the warehouse is 1000 meters. Seems like it's only sold in bulk on their website.

@joeslightwork i appreciate it! Gonna look into it. Hopefully the sub i work for picks it up for us.

This is so weird, I've never seen a jig like that for the cleave, plus why use mechanical connectors when you have that fancy fusion splicer? I do all mechanical, is the alcohol really needed when you're not splicing? I don't use it any more because it doesn't seem to make any difference, the biggest thing is the seating into the connector from what I've experienced
@joeslightwork13 күн бұрын
The new place I work requires these mechanical splices. I don't think I asked why the alcohol was needed, but I would think it helps for the point of contact on the tip of the cleave inside the mechanical splice. I been debating on trying the free hand no jig way.

I forgot they did tell me fusion in the house box is coming soon to new build areas.
@Artanis66713 күн бұрын
@@joeslightwork Really the only way I can see it helping at all, with fusion you don't want particulates melding in with the glass so alcohol is necessary but yeah, in my experience with mechanical, as long as the cleave is straight you can get almost no loss without it
@joeslightwork13 күн бұрын
Good to know , do you at least wipe it?
@Artanis66713 күн бұрын
@@joeslightwork with my fingers if I see the acrylate (?) residue on it. I've heard to alcohol wipe before and after the cleave but it most certainly seems to be necessary for fusion splices. Test it out! A lot of times as well, I've found if there's bad optic levels on a mechanical connector, you can disengage the connector and press the fiber line down back in it (not to much pressure to break the glass) and re-seat it, then test again with the optic meter. Most often if the fiber is still at the right length within the connector, you can get awesome results just by re-seating

You're installing for Buckeye now? They've ran their fiber line behind my house (back in May of '24). The fiber cable they ran is still hanging off the guide wheels but haven't return back to lash it to their CATV plant and collect their guide wheels. Truly, I think they forgot about it. Throughout the south end of Toledo, they have the fiber lines coiled up hanging from the poles, but I've net to see them working in the area. Seems as though Buckeye is going through some things at the moment - hopefully you're safe with your job.

I just started and don't know much about it, but from what I seen they don't outsource like everyone else and that might cause some slow build outs.

You only do fiber? You ever do any coax or copper plants?

Yeah, I do coax house jobs also, but like every one of them are done and don't have any video worth shooting.
