We had fiberglass curtains in our house in the late 1960's. Yes fiberglass fabric

Fiberglass is also used to reinforce and thus strengthen Concrete. It is an additive as short fibres about 3 or 4 inches long (or as specified for the particular concrete) and is often mixed into the concrete mix with Liquid Polymers and Plasticizers. Together they can make extremely strong and resilient concrete that is not brittle.

Fun fact: The original Corvette was produced in fiberglass not for weight savings (it was actually not that lite) but to more easily create the iconic Corvette shape... it was the 50's after all.

A great and impressive video. A very structured history which covers many aspects of this versatile material. Presented in a clear way. A lot of informations in a short timeframe.

great video! i really appreciate the detailed explanation on how fiberglass is made. however, i can't help but wonder if the environmental impact of fiberglass production is being overlooked. like, while it's super versatile, isn't it time we start prioritizing more eco-friendly materials? just a thought!

Fibreglass roofing is not common. UV destroys it, and it stopped being sold in many parts of the world.

it's a good base for carbon fibre to give a bit more strength ,but it is a bit heavier
@wilmarblokland34092 ай бұрын
Here it is not common to produce fiberglass insulation from fiber. It is normal to produce the glass and convert directly into fiberglass wool using a "spinner".

Also. The pictures and videos in this dont show people installing fiber glass insulation with any ppe on. Id highly recommend a closed long sleeve shirt, glasses, and atleast a face mask. Thats insulation is not cotton candy, even though it looks like it.

how is fiberglass different from asbestos?) they both are tiny ceramic fibers that organism has no way of getting rid of. If fiberglass is nowadays everywhere, there is no reason banning asbestos to be used the same way
