How to Put a Pre-Wound Warp on a Rigid Heddle Loom for Weaving - Buy a Warp or Wind Your Own!

Fiber Love Diary - YarnTube and Weaving

I was asked quite awhile ago how to put a pre-purchased hand dyed warp on a loom, and I've thought about it several times about how it would be best to do. This worked so slick, I will DEFINITELY be doing it again, particularly for dishtowels. It was great! I hope this helps someone have an easier time warping if maybe they don't have the space for a long warp, or physically have a hard time direct warping, or if maybe they just want to buy a handdyed warp and don't want to do the dyeing.

I love your weaving videos. I have a Fanny at home and I have had the same warp on it since last April. It took me days to warp it and I had been given wrong information so I need to redo it and I am scared of the headache and that all my work was for nothing 😢 but your videos inspire me, so much so that I had bought this loom to begin with. As always, thank you Trish!

This is a GREAT Project and demo…thank you for taking time to do this so clearly. When it comes to supporting the floating lease sticks through the warping process, I have taken long skinny ‘bungee’ cords and those spring tension plastic things we get on hoodies and run them like you did through the reed. I had to do this figuring it out with the Saori loom. You have such a way of making these things look easy. And fun. Is that a 3D swift!? Such stunning scarves…. Most excellent.

22:00. one of the benefits of lees sticks is that they provide some extra tensioning that I appreciate as a single warper. I like your system. Funny how my brain works a bit differently, and I can see how I'd adjust your system to suit. Gonna have to try it out!! Thanks!

I don't have a rigid heddle loom but have a floor loom this isn't my idea but I use it you get those cheap curtain rod that bends on each end then I hook one end over the front and other end over the back one for each side I made sure to get the longest it adjusts then I put the lease sticks over this and it is supported while I thread the Reed.

I used to have a 4-harness jack loom. My dad built it in solid maple. It was beautiful. I wove on it a couple of times and it stressed me out so much that I never did it again. As I am watching you I assumed I would want to try again, but no. I'm happy for you and others that love to weave. It fills me with so much anxiety just thinking about messing up the warp, messing up my pattern, breaking threads, etc. I can live vicariously through you!

I love this video! It is so helpful to see this method as I don’t have a good space to direct warp right now, but I can set up warping pegs along the sides of my dining room table for a makeshift warping board. Question…can you add the details of your weft yarn to the video description (if you still it, the yarn weight and yards in your skeins?)

I loved your tutorial and the scarves were very pretty in the handspun. I am curious though as to why you decided to tie this warp on to your apron rod when in the past I always see you lash them on. Was there something about the wool that dictated that, or it was just what you were feeling that day? Thank you so much for sharing your experiences with us.
