Trish, its always fun to spin different fibers. We learn so much about a new fiber and ourselves. Never get tired of watching. And yes, small time for spinning adds up to alot of yarn. Still spinning.

I'm enjoying your breed study! I'm not able to join in right now, but value the knowledge of what you are doing! I have been gathering several fleeces that I have to wash and then figure out how I'm going to spin them. I have a teeswater, a romney/cottswald, CVM cross, a shetland and I think a baby doll, all started as raw fleece that I have been washing and learning from! I'm enjoying the process of being able to go at my pace. I also have a pound of Border Leicester that I have already washed. I enjoyed washing it and love the curls in it! It came really clean, it really surprised me. I'm thinking about getting a whole fleece of the BL, it's not as soft but I think I'll enjoy it. Hope you continue to feel better and be safe! Can't wait for the next one!

I know this comment is much later, and I hope you see it, but based on your reaction, one of the fleeces I got this year was a Finn. Last year I got a Gotland and Wensleydale, and they were my first fleeces. The Gotland was ok, but I fought (and am still fighting) the Wensleydale. It just wants to stick to itself. Maybe I was too rough with it, but the Finn, oh the Finn.. I spun up a sample tonite, and it is just lovely! So soft and sproingy. Thank you so much for pointing me in its direction!

I once bought some spun yarn in the Faroe Islands (far north Northern Hemisphere) and when I read the label I found it was 50% local Faroe Island sheep yarn and 50% from the Falkland Islands (far south Southern hemisphere). I love that it comes from 2 remote islands on different sides of the world. So I was very interested to learn a little bit about the sheep on the Falkland Islands. Now I’m wondering what is the breed of the sheep on the Faroe Islands. Time to go down another rabbit hole. Many thanks for another fun/informative podcast/vlog.

I’m really enjoying your breed study. I got 8 oz of Finn years ago when I purchased a wheel from Virginia , I believe, and it was the most luscious and soft fiber and truly a joy to spin and knit with. But then I’ve bought Finn that wasn’t nearly as enjoyable. How do you know when you’re ordering fiber (not a whole fleece but prepared) how soft it will be? I understand micron count andI post attention to that, but, honestly, the first Finn I spun was soooo soft! And I don’t think they are in business any more which makes me so sad. Thank you for taking us on your fiber journey.. I’m learning so much. Suzette
