I built drums (which resemble North drums) out of PVC pipe and used Remo CS heads for years. Today I changed all of them to Remo Fiberskyns. Check out the difference in sound!

I think the fiberskyns give a fuller sound. Nice job. I’ve been checking out your other videos. I really enjoy your channel. Thanks for saving those old entry level kits!!

I agree with you about the Fiberskyns. I'm trying to decided if I should replace the heads on the Sonor kit with Fiberskyns, too, or maybe use Pinstripes. I'm leaning toward Pinstripes, but I'll have to give it a little more thought before I pull the trigger. Thanks for watching!

It took a while for you to get the skins but the wait was worth it . They always looked amazing now its a different set all together ...

It really did improve the sound, just as the same heads did on my North kit. Now I'm trying to decide if I should go with Fiberskyns on my Sonor kit, too, or go with Pinstripes. Because the Sonors are wood shells and use resonant heads I'm leaning toward the Pinstripes although I still haven't really decided for sure either way.

Very cool Chris. I prefer the fyberskins, the drums pop more and sound better to me opposed to the clear. You also are playing better with the fyberskins.

I get inspired when the drums sound good! :)

Bit warmer but the Black Dots. The tuning seems similar...We drummers tend to have a depth of sound for our toms that we like; and we stay there...:)...Nice kit!

Thanks! I agree with you; the Fiberskyns are definitely warmer, which in this case I prefer. Thanks for watching!

Me, too. I'm thinking of putting them on all my Sonor kit as well.

Sounds too close to call. I like fiberskyns and use them but this side by side is a tough call. If you force me to pick, I'd say the fiberskyns are slightly warmer sounding. I would love to have a large set like that to goof on. Happy Drumming!!!

I agree--they are a bit warmer. I think they sound the most different (better) on the two 10-inch drums. I think that's because the Fiberskyns are thinner and mold to the shape of the not-so-great bearing edges of the pipe.

The sewer pipe kit is so cool, what did it cost you to put it together?

The different sizes are very different prices when it comes to the shells, check out the video where I describe what I had to do to construct them: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pqOuhKCwbJdsiac

To me both heads sound fine, get the job done right.

I agree, they both sound pretty good, but on the 10" toms I think the Fiberskyns sound much better. It has to do with the uneven bearing edges and the thinness of the Fiberskyns, I think. Thank you for watching!

@@christhedrummerkimball I agree with you on the 10 in Tom sounds better with the fiberskynes.

@@donjohnson9063 The audio doesn't really reflect this, but the bass drum also sounds better, but a lot of that has to do with the fact I took out the pillow and replaced it with a much smaller piece of foam rubber.
