Presentation: Fichte's philosophy has long remained in the shadow of those of the two giants Kant and Hegel. However, it was rediscovered in France in the 20th century, particularly as regards its questioning on the theme of reality. Indeed, what guarantees me that the world I perceive, and that we all perceive, does exist? While this question does not of course arise in everyday life, it nevertheless involves great philosophical difficulties: can the subject know this reality in itself that characterizes the external world? We want to show here that Fichte answers this question in an original way, which is neither Descartes' nor Kant's. By opposing two great perspectives, realism and idealism, his first Doctrine of Science attempts, at the end of a vast dialectic, to explain in this way how the Self relates to a "Non-Me".
