Let us respect that he got Magnus back into the Blitz after it was total nuclear. Noone thought that would happen, but let us admit we all wanted to see that. That is a testament to his skills in bridging an impossible situation. Also, somehow the fact that it was that close to New Year with the split decision in Blitz has been lost in most commentary. That makes me appreciate the call a bit more.

You dont need future regulations. The rule clearly stated that pre arranging games are forbbiden. You need some balls. In case of dress code and endgame modus

Carlsen and the freestyle team want to name the freestyle competition as a world championship but that would mean getting FIDE approval . But that would mean FIDE will get a cut . I think the issue boils down to how much money FIDE is asking . Carlsen and Dvorkovich seem to be skirting this issue in their interviews . FIDE may not be oblivious to the money Carlsen and Hikaru are making independently of chess tournaments . All this media battle is just a smokescreen to hide the rather mundane reason of FIDE and Magnus not agreeing on their share .
