Tbh It's so stupid and egotistic by magnus and idk why everyone is supporting this?just because "ohh he is magnus everything he does is right"... A.) getting mad at fide over the fact that "you didn't dress properly"(according to the rule book I guess) even after they giving you time to change but nope..and when they took action your narcissist brain can't take it and you decide to not play the whole event. I mean they gave you time after round 3 to change. B.) yes fide have done some exceptionally weird things and as a top player you should talk about these things and take a stand. But do it on your social media,your interview. Or if you really want to go against fide then you shouldn't sign up for the even itself. Here you are just using those excuses to hide your narcissist attitude.

@@ExplodingSkull-n5y DUDE he is not playing his 1st tournament if he seriously wanted a change in rules SAY IT BEFORE THE TOURNAMENT..not in the middle of it. yes i agree these rule from fide suck but you can't just decide in the middle of the tournament hey i don't care about rule book i'll wear this(other players will start questioning if fide don't take any action). i also feel he kinda knew that he can't win anymore and he don't want to give other players the opportunity to say "hey i won the tournament even when magnus was playing" so he finds an excuse and withdraw from the event.

My 2cent . Magnus was so down on leaderboard and was losing badly so he himself created this drama to run away from this competition and also created drama so he will not have to participate anymore as he wants to go down as best player and not the one getting crushed in tournaments as now so many chess players are in great potential. Magnus knows the rules very well he is a veteran. Drama queen Magnus

As a professional player, Magnus, like every other player, must follow the rules. Not following the dress code that he signed up for is not professional conduct. Not correcting his mistake when given a chance to do so is unprofessional. Acting as if rules do not apply to him is unprofessional and unbecoming. He is a great player, but he cannot demand a different set of rules. His arrogance and ego seem to have gone to his head. Sad.
