Back when my dad was in the navy around the same time Castro took over Cuba my dad's boat went there and all the black sailors had to stay on the ship because they couldn't go on shore because Castro didn't want them there

I'm not defending Castro, he's a brutal dictator, but the reason they love him in Harlem has to do with the fact that he's an outspoken anti-racist and sent many Cuban troops to help resistance movements in Africa. So it's a sort of 'the enemy of my enemy' thing to those people in that church. It's also why Nelson Mandela is a friend of his.
