Boy, half link chain makes this super easy. I made some with regular chain before. I prefer the look of regular chain, but the ease the half link chain makes is sooo much better.
@tanalee098 жыл бұрын
I made one, and love it. I like your new idea if using electrical tape instead of bicycle tube, and the half link chain. The chain is SO much easier than the road bike chain! ... Again, well done!

Thanks for all your videos. They are awesome. I have made three of those spinners and they work great. Although I didn't have much success with electrical tape, seems like the tape wants to roll and makes the spinner unstable. Plus it doesn't look so good when you look at it from between the links. I used the technique of your other video with the full length chain and used four inner tube strips glued to four points on the sprocket. That works awesome, plus it adds more tension on the chain which makes the whole thing more solid and stable One of them has a bearing that is slower than the others, I have put it in the others and it's just the bearing. I tried to clean it up in alcohol but I think it just needs to be played with to break it in. Do they sell those bearings all by themselves? I couldn't find them... Thanks again, I love your videos...

You changed from bicycle tube shims to the electrical tape. Better overall balance? Fewer lumps? : )
@RevanTK4217 жыл бұрын
tanalee09 I changed it because it's more balanced that way. Also electrical tape is more abundant than old inner tubes.
@tanalee097 жыл бұрын
+Revan TK-421 I think I like the change. The only drawback is not seeing the color of the pulley teeth through the chain. But normal people probably don't look, anyway. Oooo...Is there such a thing as glow in the dark tape?
@RevanTK4217 жыл бұрын
tanalee09 i had the exact same thought. I liked seeing the sprocket through the chain also. But yeah most people wouldn't notice you're probably right. But that's a cool idea! Or at least a colored tape that matched the theme of the spinner. Good idea!

It's a good video, I appreciate you putting it up. Competition aside, I'm going to try making myself one of these just to see what they feel like. I've had a rotten time with spin toys, they inevitably disappoint due to poor spin times or shoddy craftsmanship so at least with this option I know who to yell at for making it poorly (me!). I'd suggest selling them on Etsy too, you might find them quite popular there.
