If you put dry cat food away from your crops, the raccoons and possums will go for the food that’s easy and will leave your crops alone. I feed raccoons and they leave every thing else alone.

My mother just gave me one of those "corn dryers". It was given to her and was told it was to put corn on to feed the squirrels. I hung it in my chicken coop and I use it to impale cabbage and zucchini etc for my chickens! It is so nice to know what it was actually used for! Now we know. God's timing is perfect! Great video!

Good Morning Ya'll Mr Danny I'm Sooo Excited right there with ya!! Your childlike happiness over the garden is infectious. I'm a lil lady but grew up extremely poor n when my father had a stroke we hardly had meat anymore because he was unable to kill hogs n we didn't have them to trade or the funds to buy 1/2 a cow from neighbors. So we had biscuits gravy n eggs n such for breakfast beans cornbread n everything from the garden. Mama had her chickens but other than that n a li meat from the store thats how we lived. But man i love my food n fresh is heaven sent you don't really grasp how much what you n Mz Wanda mean to us We honestly cherish n love Ya'll continued Prayer's n Blessing's upon ya'll.

In years past we’ve had raccoons tear our corn patch completely up. I mean tear every stalk, every ear up. This was on 10 rows 50 feet long. Talk about heartbreaking now that’s heartbreaking. They’d wait til the night before we planned on pulling it the next morning. Now we have a 6 ft woven wire fence with a strand of electric wire on top. The electric wire was added because deer actually jumped the 6 foot tall fence. We don’t plant that much corn any more but still have to control the raccoons. Your Danny corn is absolutely beautiful. I pray nothing happens to it before you finish your harvest. 🌽🙂

We're feeding our husks to the worms, and drying stalks for biochar. We pull it before the stalks start dying, so we can get a second crop in during our growing season. Extra harvest aside, with our humidity the kernels will start to germinate, or begin to experience fungal issues if we try to dry in-field. The green husks are easy to tie with twine for hanging - when we didn't have much to hang, we braided them. Yeah .. we grew a little corn 😉

My husband had an old rusty pitch fork that I had him bend each tine back in opposite directions to place on a pole mounted by my bird feeders to feed the birds in winter. Growing corn and protecting it until harvest is not easy.....nice job. In a span of 4 years I lost three crops due to hail, deer (would jump my fence) and raccoon....the one successful year provided the incentive to keep trying. Could not do anything about the weather but motion sensing water sprinklers kept the deer and raccoon away and the garden watered. In Southeastern PA we had an abundance of well water.
