The colors in that corn are amazing. And that is the way farmers have done things for generations. If you need something, MAKE it.

Look at that beautiful corn! I had no worries you two would come up with a good idea for hanging the corn to dry. This ia easy enough we can all do it. Peace and safe blessings, everyone.

My grandpa made a quilt frame for my grandma by drilling holes in 2 2x2s every so far apart. She would lay out the quilt and sew it to it on opposite sides. Then she rolled it up real straight on one side. She would lay it on two chair backs to quilt it. Rolling it out a little at a time. You could do four to hang it from the ceiling if you want. But I kept it for a long time, but lost it in a housefire. Loved the tools my grandpa made. Those things are treasures .

GOD gave you an awesome tall field of corn grown this year with beautiful colors of corn. It is great that you are able to grind your own into meal. Growing up here in N MO area all we saw in the fields were yellow color field corn that was harvested by combines in the Fall & shipped by trucks to huge siloes to be stored. Some families grew "cream & sugar" sweet corn to sell at Farmer's Markets to eat fresh or can or freeze for meals. The "multi colored" corn was called Indian corn & used for decorations & then was saved & put in the squirrel box for them to eat in Winter. (Many times a church friend of mine let me go through her corn field after the harvest & pick up broken pieces of corn ears & put in buckets so I could have corn in the food box wired to the tree 7' up for the squirrels to eat in the Winter). Really liked putting out food for the squirrels & birds. Also saved & froze beef & chicken fat with bird seed to hang in a wire mesh for Winter. Also after the harvest in early morning she said she saw deer & geese & pheasant & squirrels & ducks eating the stalk scrap & corn left by the combine.

Your Danny Corn is beautiful Danny!! Great idea on the corn dryer!

I love the corn dryer ! That looks a lot like the corn I grow . I mixed Truckers Favorite , Purple Pride , and a rare yellow corn from Guatemala . That corn from Guatemala grew super tall when I first started growing it you had to get on a ladder to pick the ears . It was accustomed to shorter days there than what we have here in Indiana. Thanks for sharing and have a great day !

That's a great idea! I grew corn for the first time last year. I wasn't sure what to do so I pulled the husks all the way back and tied pieces of jute of varying lengths to each of the husks. Then I tied the other end of the jute lines to plastic coat hangers. I tied about 5 ears to each hanger and spread them out evenly over the length of the hangers. Then I hung the hangers up.

That’s how my Papaw dried his corn. He made his own with long branches and long screws, then put a hook in the top. He would hang them all around his covered porches to dry. (Now people do the same for squirrel feeders. Which is Crazy!) My Granny couldn’t wait for him to take those things down. They were so long, she couldn’t see her gardens from the porch.😂
