Thank you. I never knew. When I was five or six years old my two older cousins were over visiting me and my older brother. We were playing in our backyard which was a small peach orchard. I recall a lone plant stalk with an ear of corn to which one of the older cousins lit a match to as I looked on amazed when a single popcorn appeared . I watched with wonder and kept the wonder to myself never to mention it to anyone. Now after many years, I decided to learn of the plant that produced that one kernel of popcorn. Thank you for your straightforward video. Well done and very much appreciated.

Is there different types of popcorn ? I do wonder, as the popcorn this year seems to be very dry and tough after you pop it. My brother said the same thing, and he orders his popcorn from a different place, other than stores here in Canada. Is there different grades of popcorn ? and which areas ( states) grow the best popcorn ? You seem to be very knowledgeable on corns, so maybe you know the answer ?

I loved this video! So interesting! This is a dumb question, but when you harvest the field corn are the stalks destroyed by the machinery? How do the machines delegate the stalk from the corn cob? Do they grow back or do you have to plant them back? I’m so intrigued by all of this. 🙂
@dreamflight60004 жыл бұрын
It chops them and they fly out of the back on the combine. Good question! I'm not sure but it's an amazing machine. You have to plant new corn and beans every year and you alternate the fields so where there was corn this year, they'll be beans next year.

It's almost like you knew me and my kids were taking about this a few days ago! We recently started air popping a bunch of popcorn, and my kids eat a lot of canned sweet corn and sometimes corn on the cob. So they were asking about the plants that they come from, and I didn't really know, so we looked it up together and that's when I found out that field corn was a thing. I didn't know what field corn was used for though, until I watched this video. My kids watched it with me too, they really liked it since we were just taking about it😉 🌽 🍿

No. It's a completely different seed. If you left sweet corn in the field, it would just rot... It wouldn't turn hard like field corn and neither of them would ever pop and be popcorn, that's it's own kind. Like every variety of flowers has a different seed. 😊
