Thanks very much for explaining the factor and field factor settings, makes things much easier! They way I use this script is to draw the fields with it on a new/blank map. start the game and use the Easy dev tool(F12) to set field ground to all cultivated and save the game. I then take the densityMap_ground.gdm file from my save folder and copy it to the map's data folder overwriting the old one. When you open the editor you then have all the field ready where you want them.
@bauerbrown Жыл бұрын
Glad it helped! I realized at one point that lot's of people are aware of this script and use it frequently once they get it working, but I also realized that those same people have no clue how it actually works, what the settings mean, etc. I've seen far too many people just make wild guesses at the values when scaling up, troubleshooting, or any other situation that requires the values to be changed. You should be in control of the script, not the other way around! I do the same with densityMap every now and then depending on the situation. For example, I might make a different design choice depending on how the field looks populated. Can I ask why you do it this way? Is it to skip drawing the fields in by hand, like with a dirt color for example? I'm just curious as to why some people choose this method ... it's the reason I make these videos after all. LOL!

Farmer Brown… 🤣 Started going through your map tutorial playlist two weeks ago. While I eventually want to make my own 4k map based on a local farming community I grew up in until I was 6, I have been playing the American Farmlands map mod on console and with only 6 fields on the map, it has large meadow areas to make your own fields. Using the existing farmlands as guides, I used plows to make new massive fields on the map for chaff to make silage for a modular BGA, and small to medium fields for grass/hay, straw and rotating crops. I used the Landscaping tool (which leaves a lot to be desired in painting tools) to make dirt field roads around the fields. I created a field on 9 farmlands about 72 HA in size for chaff which produces 13-15 million liters in one season. Really loving the layout I did, I wanted to make a modded version on PC for personal use and mod in the fields, adjust the farmlands and add some production / farm building areas just to enjoy the map with a more personal layout already available. I painted in the roads and field areas in the last week and using this video I finished creating the field dimensions yesterday and everything in game looks perfect. I just need to reconfigure the farmlands next. (I think I will email you screenshots of the finished product in comparison with the original layout.) I did run into a bit of an issue figuring out how to edit the modDesc.xml to name the map. If it is in the tutorial series I have not go to that yet, but editing that and creating icons for the maps would be a good video to cover if it has not been addressed. Thanks for the tutorials and extra vids, Bauer.

Hey Bauer, do you have any idea how to get the fields to have my selected crops when starting a start from scratch rather than having random fruits in the fields, my map is Irish based I want to have the fields that I don’t own to have grass growing in them as that is what we mostly see here in Ireland, that’s the only thing that I’m stuck on, the generation of fruits on the AI fields not owned by the player
@bauerbrown5 ай бұрын
In fields that you own, you can stipulate which crops you want growing when you start the game, in AI fields you cannot. You can dictate which crops NOT to grow, but that applies to the entire map. This is something they should really incorporate into the game, because I have also had the need for specific crops in specific fields. Unless I'm missing something, which is always possible, there is no option for this. The only thing I can think of is that you can assign the user attribute "fieldGrassMission" to a specific field. I never used this option, so I can't say for sure what results you would get. Test it out, you might get close to the results you are looking for, but I can't guarantee ALL of the fields will have grass ... but maybe. I'll have to look more into this and see if there is some sort of workaround to get the crops you want.
@FSLandscaping4 ай бұрын
@@bauerbrown I tested the fieldGrassMission but only 2 fields out of 158 are grass, FastFarming’s map Fairhead has the AI fields as grass but I have looked through everything and can’t see how he’s done it, I was hoping something would have been in the map i3d xml for the 3 game starting modes but I can’t even find that

i just recently started working on a map, i have followed this viedo to a T, but some hoe i have phantom fields when i create new fields. they do not show up on the map but they have a name under the fields in scenegraph, how do i fix this?
@bauerbrown9 ай бұрын
The phantom fields are not necessarily anything you are doing wrong (for the most part). The fields are created through individual colors identified with infoLayer. Somewhere, somehow, you are picking up extra colors - it only takes a single pixel, and quite often this is the case. The reasons these extra pixels are created vary. Most often its through something you did without realizing it, like resizing the infoLayer without re-writing it. The process of enlarging/shrinking the image can produce misc pixels to be created. You'll want to have a look at the infoLayer and try to spot exactly where these pixels have been created and color over them if possible. If you are not able to find the pixels, they are most likely small and should not cause any harm. Once you deal with the pixels if you are able to, simply delete the extra fields from your scenegraph - it generally will not cause a problem.

The video did say that "fields" needs to be highlighted, but I suppose I should have been more specific. Hi Bauer, I really enjoyed your map making tutorials, extremely detailed and well done videos!! I have one question though and im getting only a little info from the internet about it.. and its about allowing contracts to field. I am seeing reports about adding "FieldMissionAllowed" to the userAttributes but I dont see them on any field in the basegame maps.. is any field automatically giving out contracts in FS22 or do I need to manually add them while making a map? Also FieldGrassMission is another attribute.. I cant figure out if this makes a field grass only or just grass as a possibility.. Im really hoping you have the answers as nobody seems to have them for FS22.. all im seeing is videotutorials about FS19 and earlier.. but then again, nobody did such extensive videos on mapmaking before so you are my best bet :D
@bauerbrown Жыл бұрын
To the best of my knowledge, this is what I know about those attributes. "FieldMissionAllowed" is set to true by default on all fields and therefore no reason to list it in the field attributes. However, if you DO NOT want to allow missiona on a particular field, you would need to create a boolean type attribute with the name of "fieldMissionAllowed" on that particular field and set it to false (leave the box unchecked). "FieldGrassMission" is set to false by default, and when set to true it allows Grass Missions as a possibility, not a definite. I haven't personally tested any of this, I'll leave that up you. If things don't work as desired just hmu and I'll help you get it sorted if I can.
