Started looking at making a map towards the end of FS22, looking forward to Following your series for FS25! Can confirm the exporter works for blender 4.0 at least.

The exporter working for 4.0 is definitely a good thing. That's something they're usually always far behind on.

I'm on 4.2. When I installed the exporter, there were options for 4.0, 4.1 and 4.2

@@chaseydog7956 If it works on one, it should work on all versions of 4. This is the first time they ever released an exporter with the editor that works on the latest version. It took them years to update the last one to version 3.

I was under the impression that they would be done differently as well, but I'm thinking they may have been talking about dirt roads. From what I'm seeing so far the roads are just standard 3d models. I guess we'll find out soon enough!

@ they are awesome and can be done so fast. Someone with blender knowledge could easily get a full road network down within an hour

@ just join roads up like normal and don’t worry about sculpting then go into shape tab and tick terrain decal then your mind will be blown 😁

The procedural placement is not used at runtime. The masks are used to control the procedural placement. Some of them are used directly, others are also adjusted with other masks and also with some automatically generated mask such as with road splines, etc.to generate certain textures and objects automatically. E.g. when you paint the PG_Forest, it will automatically create forest textures, bushes, trees, etc. where the PG_Forest is set. Also with some logic to fade out the density of the forest at the edges of the painted mask, with roads and water removed, etc. Note the scripts for the procedural placement are currently missing in the currently shipping game. So procedural placement won't actually work atm. We'll fix this with a future game patch. The note nodes in the map are not used at runtime. Those are purely for the map designers to allow them to annotate cetain things so they more easily know what they did and where to find stuff. The polygon points for the fields define the area of a field. That information is used to change the field state when the field is not owned. For regular gameplay, that information is not relevant. This is similar to FS22, except that we now support polygons instead of just parallelograms making it a lot easier to create the fields, especially when they are not just rectangles. The Field Toolkit does offer the option to toggle the debug rendering of the fields. When you execute that script (either click the execute button in the Script Editor window, or go to Scripts -> Shared scripts -> Map -> Farmland Scripts -> Field Toolkit) you have a button Toggle Debug Rendering at the very bottom. There are also various helper functions here, e.g. to create a new field with all the template nodes in there. The scripts in the editor, are used in the editor only, they are not used by the game. The blue areas are navigation meshes. They are used for the animals walking around at the dealer. Traffic splines are mostly the same as in FS22. The overtaking logic is completely dynamic by analyzing what the spline layout is.

Awesome info, thanks for that!! I did address some of this in a follow up video with the 10.0.1 release. The field toolkit was not working for me in the 10.0.0 version when the video was made so there was some confusion as to what the script was actually doing. I could only speculate on what the use was for. Some of the scripts refer to game logic so I thought maybe some things got switched up this year. I would naturally assume that nothing associated with the editor (as far as scripts) gets used in the game itself as that's never been the case outside of studio, but one never knows :) The burning question everyone has now is how the texture/decal projections work, especially when it comes to roadways. Thanks for the great info !!

@@bauerbrown To convert an object in to a terrain decal, you have to tick the the "Terrain Decal" checkbox in the Shapes tab and also untick the "Rendered in Viewports" checkbox to make sure it is only rendered into the terrain texture and not as a normal object anymore. In a few rarer cases, you might want to still have the "Rendered in Viewports" ticked. E.g. in cases where you want to still render the object as a 3d mesh that is not just flat on the terrain, but you still want some other objects to nicely blend in with that object.

Between fs25, msfs24 and now this I am just done. 😔 I will come back in a week or two to see if things are ironed out, but it sure hasn't been a great week/week and a half for software for me.

Whats the propper method of updating the editor from 10 to 10.0.1 ? I cant find how to update the current installed build to the new build, I can only download 10.0.1 and have the editor installed twice which seems kind of weird. Also, what should I have set in the Giants Studio Path? Thanks in advance , first time GE user

You need to manually uninstall the old editor. I use Revo uninstaller and it does a good job of getting rid of everything - then you can install the new version. You'll end up doing this several times by the time they get it right :) Install Studio and make note of the install location - that's the path you want to use.

The dialog box was revealed in later videos once we had a working version of the editor. They were for the field and placeable toolkits.

The newest blender 4.3 will work with the new giants tools just got it last night. I been trying to learn how to convert my hay rake over from fs22 but it has me stumped on how to convert it over

Its a long lengthy process to do it properly, im in the process of doing one of my vehicles, for area's of the vehicle that shouldn't get rain drops the uvs need to be below 0 and things that should get wet need to be above 0 I like to do mine in sections, so ill export out the main body and its associated parts, then ill export out the interior and its associated parts, and work on them separately in the editor and then bring it all together into one i3d, however for me using the latest version of giants editor im having meshes disappear when either droping the file directly into the scene or uf i try to import the file, so not sure how to solve that one lol. Im also having trouble opening maps, riverbend springs will just hang and not load, zeilonka will open but ground textures are all white and then it crashes.

@@kevydd-h2p It's a bit odd, but not surprising. I haven't had any issue with the maps yet, but there is still time LOL. Hopefully everything gets worked out with the 1.3 patch.

@bauerbrown looking forward to your fs25 tutorials, least this time round I'll have a much better understanding of what your talking about. Ive certainly learnt alot over the past year. Another issue im currently experiencing is if i open the editor console and move that window up or down i get a pixelated pink and black screen, sometimes it will crash, sometimes it will correct itself. And in the consol it will say successfully created swap chains with random numbers on the end of that line and will generate lots of those lines. My pc is just under the recommendation for fs25 however just upgraded to a new one with more than enough gogo juice. Still in the process of setting all that up and hopefully i wont have that pink and black screen. The research i did seemed to suggest thats i could be the graphics card is not up to par, damaged or drivers need updating. Doesn't help the power keeps going out either. Last time was just as i pressed ok to open up the editor a few days ago, hmm may have just answered my own question lol .

@@kevydd-h2p That was going to be my next question ... PC specs. Even though there wasn't a huge leap between the two versions, it was enough. It could be an issue with direct x 11 vs 12. I think you'll likely see these problems go away with the upgrade.

Sand is very soft in game. Maybe you want test heavy vehicles in game for it. Jonh deeere 9r makes very steep tire marks

hi, can you make a video on the road as the developers have implemented it, I would like to learn how to make such roads in Farm 25, I would like to understand how they are made so that I can implement them on my maps

@@andreystartsev5595 This is the first year that Giants are doing roads this way. It's typical that Giants doesn't explain a damn thing, so you either figure it out your own or hope that someone else does and shows you. I hope to have it figured out more sooner than later.
