Robbie panicking and not being able to follow instructions was very realistic. The jump scare got me! Fantastic job as always. People who don't think big herbivores are dangerous have clearly never been around any. I grew up on a farm and even domesticated cattle can be deadly in the right circumstances. Dinosaurs? Utterly terrifying.
@ali-awada10 ай бұрын
Finally someone understands that in situations of utter shock and fear, people do not have the reasoning and capacity to “follow instructions”. Comments prove that the majority of people have rarely or never been in a fight or flight situation where logic and rationality goes out the door. You get it! Thanks for the comment
@2snipe110 ай бұрын
I was thinking about this and came back to comment! I also think what contributed to this was that his radio guide broke his trust by not looking after the whereabouts of the Triceratops. Kinda put me in the "I'm really on my own" vibe at that point.

Honestly love the subversion of 'gentle herbivores' here. Herbivores are often even more dangerous than carnivores-hell the most dangerous animal in Africa is a herbivore-the Cape Buffalo (with Hippo's a close second)! So having Pachy's being the big bad animal here makes sense but I was kind of hoping a full grown Dilophosaurus would show up.

I read recently that Pachys have been suspected to a degree that it may have included meat in its diet. That the most recent and complete fossil jaw shows that it had serrated blade-like front teeth, reminiscent of those of carnivorous theropods. @girl12139 ай бұрын
They DO have thick solid bone, so it makes sense they can and would break and shatter bones if they indeed use them as headbutting tools. There's good logical arguments against this sort of behavior (as solid bone hitting solid bone in head butting like goats would cause head, neck and even brain injuries to the headbutter) but nature hasn't always been "smart" so we can't rule out the possibility Pachys really did use them this way.

This is quite solid and nicely executed. I like how you took the premise of the medical check and a downed Trike from the canon movie/book and used it for the scenario, and used a dinosaur I didn't expect as the "antagonist". It;s rare that these VHS tapes - and hell, that people in general - remember that herbivores are fucking *scary* in the right contexts and can be just as aggressive, if not more so, than predatory animals. Everyone's like "haha lions are the freakiest" until they see what an enraged elephant brings to the table. Robbie not following instructions works too; panic does *a lot* to people under hard circumstances, and the desire for the *appearance* of safety can overcome what would actually help you in the moment. This being said, I do have a minute complaint. The mechanical/building/machine parts of the video kind of stick out like sore thumbs. They look like they've just been installed/freshly transported to the island. Bear in mind though I am a layman and I don't know how to animate, so take this as you will. I think the best example of this was the gate door. It looks too "clean" for something that's on a tropical island, and in the middle of a jungle at that. It doesn't need to be covered in muck and be rusty, but it should show a small amount of wear and tear. Some mud/dirt smeared on the bottom portions from people going through it before, bits of leaves and other organic detritus hanging around/leaving marks on it, stains from water and other natural forces. The fences and entrances in the movies, at least to me, showed some signs of fading color, they didn't shine unless water was on them. The same goes for the outside of the JP Jeep; some wear and tear would make it and the gate feel better integrated into the world IMO. For the inside of the Jeep I suggest adding some "personal flair" if that makes sense; customization by the driver(s) to make it feel more "homey" and comfortable to them and other park staff. Also at 2:42 the fence has a split on the left side. IDK if that's intentional but judging by the other fence sections lacking this gap, I'm assuming it's not. That said, these really don't affect the video as a whole, they're just my observations. Well done all around.
@ali-awada10 ай бұрын
Thanks for taking the time and I completely agree with you. A grittier appearance to those items would add to the realism, absolutely. My work consists of a lot of compromises based on the complexity of each shot and trying to balance the time it would take to render my vision for each shot. With additional textures and polygons, I run the risk of having renders taking days to finish, which doesn’t work for my workflow and upload schedule. So the work around is prioritising which elements serve the story and sacrificing those that don’t. This keeps me relatively sane as I know myself; once a project is taking too long, I tend to lose interest, and then my biggest fear is not finishing something I started. Thanks for the comment!

For everyone saying that he did everything wrong at the end, that is missing the point of the head injury he sustained from the jeep getting rolled. Coupled with the previous fight or flight response from the trike incident, no, you are not going to be thinking straight at all. He also is likely tuning out the radio chatter at this point, the radio man has failed him several times, and is in no actual position to help him. We hear that the bull and others are on the otherside of the habitate, so how did they move so quickly? Feels more like someone got set up. He absolutly should never have gone out alone, and the overtime comment is pretty indicitive of this not being the way it should be running. Where he did fail is by not closing the first gate when he entered the trike pen.
