+Nik Kingman yes it has Christian parallels but this is not a metaphor. Baseball is a part of our past and it truly has marked the time. America has changed drastically since the invention of baseball, and every other sport has changed since the beginning of baseball; however, baseball is still the same
@sportsygirl88 жыл бұрын
Hayden Lindquist Baseball is not totally the same. They've made changes with challenges, The Buster Posey Rule, the Chase Utley Rule, both very much gray areas and they will here soon have a clock where the pitcher will have 30 seconds to pitch and if they go over it's a ball to the batter, there's 30 seconds now for a mound visit where some pitching coaches have been tossed for arguing. And many more changes have been proposed and if they come into play there'll be a good many changes coming up in the near future.

While many people rightly consider this a baseball movie, this scene always made me feel like the point of the story ran deeper than that. This scene, more than any of the others, made me feel like this was a battle for Ray’s soul, with Terrence acting as the angel on Ray’s shoulder, imploring him to have faith, and Ray’s brother in law as the devil, scheming to get Ray to sell his soul. Maybe it’s just me, but that’s my takeaway from this scene.

They'll arrive at your door, as innocent as children, longing for the past. "Of course, we wont mind if you look around.", you'll say. "It's only twenty dollars per person.". They'll pass over the money without even thinking about it, for it is money they have, and peace they lack. And they'll walk out to the bleachers, and sit in the shirtsleeves, on a perfect afternoon. They'll find they have reserved seats, somewhere along one of the baselines, where they sat when they were children and cheered their heroes. And they'll watch the game, and it'll be as if they dipped themselves in magic waters. The memories will be so thick, they'll have to brush them away from their faces. People will come, Ray. I was driving cross country in the summer of 1990 and stopped in a convenience store In Iowa for a snack. I happened to glance at a small poster at the front counter reading "Come Visit the Field of Dreams Baseball Field." Turns out I was in Dyersville! I drove to the field and got to sit on the stands Timothy Busfield climbs up on in this clip, see the house and run the bases. ❤️

I hope they are up there playing baseball just like this. Burt, Ray and now James….saying goodbye is so hard. Thank you all for the gifts you left behind. This movie will always be perfection.

This movie created a tourist attraction for Iowa in real life, not just for the storyline reason.

Rest in peace, Mr. Jones. "It's a part of our past, Ray. It reminds of all that once was *good* , and it could be again."

Watching this clip the day he died. RIP to the great James Earl Jones. His performance as Terrance Mann might be my favorite role he ever did in one of my favorite movies.

That is some good writing spoken by an immensely talented actor gifted with a unique vocal instrument played masterfully.

When the Royals actually won the World Series, I shit you not, I thought about this quote/scene, and I got a tear in my eye. And it was beautiful

This monologue goes really well with this week. Even with coronavirus going on, there will be baseball with opening day this week. Baseball was, is and should be constant with America.
