All hail and great praise to Caesar and all that but that seemed a little too easy. Are the Mongols a bit too tough? Game balance not quite right? Oh, and on a technical issue: can a unit charge on subsequent turns? Is there any mechanism for the unit getting knackered by too many charges?

Nope over charges are great.. Slightly easy as my skill but.. Human player would be challenging..

The AI might have some trouble, but the answer to Mongols is as many crossbowmen as you can possibly field, screened by spearmen, with the knights in reserve. Obviously restrictive terrain like a river or forest to anchor your flank on is very helpful - fighting the Mongols in the open is a bad idea, due to the light cavalry swarms they can bring.

@@RichardYorke1945 Granted a player of your level should be able to beat the AI nine times out of ten, or higher, but ... that seemed just too easy and there were no biscuits involved. ;p As to charges, yes over-charging is a thing but I meant charging on multiple subsequent turns. I have not noticed a mechanism for denying a charge because the horses are blown from too much running about. That was a real issue for active cavalry, especially heavies. This may be accounted for by the damage a charge does on impact in the game perhaps?
