So much has already been said in Kent’s other videos about his uncanny ability to become an entire band when he’s playing. But equally impressive are his masterful arrangements - the nuanced runs, the perfectly placed harmonics. How many other guitarists on YT would have “overplayed” this song? And he plays “clean” every time. I really think it’s ok to start using the term “genius” when discussing young Mr. Nishimura’s art.

i hate/love to say it, but it's something that seems inherent to the japanese culture/people: taking something, perhaps initially invented outside of Japan, respecting it, reverse engineering it, understanding it, perfecting it, and then on top of that(!) making it their own with their own personal touch, creativity, and skill. it may have something to do with the insular yet open culture, something to do with the fact that Japan is an island so their surplus overflows beyond their borders, something to do with their subjugation post-WWii so all the energy that initially went into their expansionist colonial imperialism is now focused in creative pursuits (most of the country has been pacifist and anti-war so that energy has to move somewhere if not toward fighting raping and killing others and all because their emperor was forced to surrender), something to do with the high prevalence of introversion that allows them to HEAR [the truth] because they're able to quiet themselves and they're not always yip yapping away into oblivion. cars, (video) games, cameras, design, music, trains, food, aesthetics, language, fashion, manners, and the list goes on. being top-class seems to come naturally to them. but it comes with a price...

@@esoonmeen OR... just maybe when young Kent started playing guitar at age 5 he said, “This is fun! I really, really like playing guitar and so I will practice every day and maybe someday make videos so I can share the beauty of music with my KZbin friends around the world.” I like this version better.

No man, he’s amazing but geniuses create Genius is if he starts making absolutely boss original music, otherwise it’s just a matter of time for anyone to get here He didn’t invent the techniques, songs, etc, which is where genius comes in He’s a damn amazing guitarist though, but re-creation isn’t creation
@andrewkeen31292 жыл бұрын
@@ofangelsanarchists2386 Not accurate lol. The word genius is not just associated with creation in any sense. An incredible mathematical prodigy would be considered 'genius'. This has nothing to do with creating in art. The other side of the story is arrangement is absolutely an art, he creates countless of his own incredible arrangements of songs. Nobody else appears to be able to come up with arrangements as well as this guy and that is why he is at the top in this world of acoustic guitar covers. Quite easy to see why some people may refer to him as pretty genius.
@paulmeszesan8970 Жыл бұрын
I nominate Kent Best Acoustic Guitarist for his "original covers". It's time for the "original artists" to collaborate with him as a duet (guitar & vocals). It would be such a cool collection of hits with Kent on guitar! Sting, Fagen, McDonald, etc..
