I grew up in a family of 12 kids. We were always had 3 kids per room. There was 6 boys and 6 girls. We had 1 full size bed per room until we hit high school. It worked and we appreciated things more. We have 7 children ourselves (5 girls and 2 boys). We have a 6 bedroom 3 bath house and our kids won't sleep in their own rooms. We have 1 kid that needs her own room and 1 that wants her own but they end up sleeping in each others room.

Yay, one bed per kid! Haha, there's always room for one more. The triple bunks are cool! The most squished we ever were was 5 girls in one bedroom--a bunk bed and a bunk bed with a trundle underneath was how we made it work. We have ceiling fans, though, so the kid in the top bed had to be really careful when they woke up...only slightly dangerous, ha!

I think one bed bunk in each room with desk underneath or storage is way better than 3 bunks as it’s too tight mainly the middle one.. by all mean roof space is always waisted might as well be for sleep and the rest to be used or left empty.. 9” sealing rooms would be the match in heaven for those kind of beds

Wow, I've never seen a triple bunk bed! I have 3 boys in one room, but we have a regular twin bed and then a bunk bed. There would be way more floor space if we had a triple bunk. Unfortunately our ceiling in that room is lower than a normal ceiling, so we wouldn't be able to do it, even if I had known about triple bunks earlier. How fun, though! I love how my sons talk to each other as they fall asleep--much better than having separate rooms, even if we were rich!

Like your video, having big family is very good, challenge but worthy. Raising a big family is like raising a society. When you eat together is like you are in a restaurant, watching movies like you went to cinema, washing clothes like you are in a laundry, pray together like you are in a prayer group, when they are studying it's like a school club etc. There always someone birthday each month. Is any large family annual meeting out there so people like us could meet? Would be great isn't?

It's different for each family depending on their individual dynamic. One good example of this was shown on Extreme Makeover Home Edition (2003-12). I can recall how some people would complain about how big the homes they built were, and looking back I can't help but laugh because the answer was very obvious. Of the 204 single family homes built or remodeled for the show, 86 were designed for families of at least 6 people, equalling double the average US household, with the largest being a family of 15. Sometimes all the kids got their own rooms, while other times the children would share new bedrooms. The designers took a very wide variety of factors beyond age and gender, such as special needs, family circumstances and of course the chemistry of the children's relationship with each other.

I just stumbled across your page and this video on my homepage. I have always been intrigued with how big families work. My question would be; why don’t you put the older 3 girls together since they are all back to back in age and then the 3 younger girls together? I also went and watched your gender reveal of your 10th child which is another little girl. Congratulations!! Looks like there needs to be a big girls room and little girls room. Lol

We do need a bigger girls room! I would love that one day! So we had it set up this way because this is how the girls wanted it. They wanted their little sisters in the room with them. I hated sharing a room with my little sister. We were constantly fighting xD when we got our own rooms when I was 10? we couldn't wait. We started sleeping in our own room before it even had a proper floor or walls xD mattress put on concrete floor no furniture, rooms were still a construction site xD it was awesome. That said, there are people who like sharing rooms. I was never one of them, my sister neither. Even though our bedroom was like twice the size of these kids rooms. We would always argue about what story to listen to in the evening. We never managed to be civil about it. :D

Have you considered switching your bedroom for the girls room? Since adults only use the bedroom for sleep , we just dont need any space. The girls need the space to study and play and to have some privacy. I raised my kids in an apartment. I made the largest room the actual living room into the kids room. Then my husband and I took the smallest bedroom and made the larger bedroom into our living room. It worked out so well. There was a large coat closet in the traditional living room so my girls had a huge closet. The bedroom made an intimate tv room that we really liked using it was nice to have a door thinking outside of the box is neccesary sometimes

Thank you for sharing! My husband and I sleep in our smallest room and our 6 children sleep in the master bedroom. Instead of traditional bunk beds, we have 3 sets of "Kid-O-Bunk" beds which are shorter in height and take up less floor space. Just another possibility for people to consider!

I came from a family of 9 kids and we had the same ratio of boys vs girls. We had a boys room and two girls rooms as well. We had 3 bunk beds one in each room. The only difference is we had two -full on the bottom twin on the top- bunk beds. In the big girls room we had a single bunk bed. And in the little girls room there was a toddler bed for the youngest. Which worked well because just when she needed a bigger bed, was right when the first kid moved out.

I would feel like I was sleeping in a coffin with that little head room. Impossible to make as well or clean up after. Have you considered a regular bunk bed with trundle under that could be pulled out night? Moving the desks out of the room and adding another bunk bed to fit four kids if needed? You never know..
@FieldsFullHouse4 жыл бұрын
Of course we have tried different beds. I mentioned that in the video. Our daughter really wanted a desk. And she was happy to have room for it. Two bunk beds will not fit in that room. Honestly we were worried she wouldn’t like it up there bc of the lack of head room and told her to let us know if it bothered her. So far she says it’s fine. :) but we are actually getting ready to switch things around anyway. Oh and my husband changes the sheets... he’s got longer arms ;) and he makes it look easy to keep clean!

Nice to meet you! Great question! My husband changes them. The kids on the very top are old enough to do it themselves. If they need help my husband assists them. Even when we had normal beds, the sheets is something my husband has always done. 😊

How is it when trying to make up those triple bunk beds?? Is it difficult??

My husband typically does the sheets. I have done the middle and bottom bed very easily. I haven’t done the top... of my husband isn’t here to do it I make a big kid do it 🤣
