HAVING 18 children is a lot to deal with. Christopher and Desiree can’t remember a time when they’ve had a house to themselves. They spend between $10K and $15K on birthday and Christmas presents for the children each year. On a weekly basis, they spend between $250 to $500 every time they buy groceries. They usually buy four to five gallons of milk at a time. “It doesn’t take much for us to fill up the fridge", Desiree says. They’ve received plenty of judgement for having so many children. People complain about them bringing more people into the world but Desiree says: “We’re raising people who are going to put into society and put into the world and be more of an asset than a liability." As is often the case with siblings their children often get on each other's nerves but there’s never a dull moment. Today they're giving us a house tour and an insight into their lives.

@Skatejock21
@Skatejock21 Жыл бұрын
you cant raise non-judgemental children. Its biologically impossible. Doesn't matter how many kids you have. We are biologically built to make judgements. People associate judgement with bad judgements but there are plenty of good judgements too. The brain judges within 1/10 of a second of seeing something. That's faster then it becomes a thought. Any parent can raise loving children, if the example is set.

I hollered when the eldest daughter said: "you WANT to be alone in this house." 😂🤣 I don't have children, but my concern is for the parents. Because they are giving so much attention to the kids, when do they have time to themselves & individually? How are the re-energizing themselves?🤔 And wanting to be alone to decompress/recuperate to prepare to deal with life on a daily basis is not a selfish act. Just my 2 cents. 🤷🏾‍♀️

"We are judged for having 18 kids." Go to tv so more people could judge them. I think they do this partly for the shock value. In my country you get financial support when you have three child if you are a single parent or without a job. And if you decide to have more, the support level won't get higher. You have to work to support your kids. Your kids = your responsibility.

Since we are a family of color, everyone expected us to be on Welfare. However, my father believed in supporting his own family. He taught all of us to do the same, and we do. Children are a blessing from The LORD. Most of us did not have big families. However, I welcomed 6 other children into our home, whose parents abandoned them. There are so many children around the world, who need to be adopted, and/or fostered, in loving and safe homes.

Where my husband is from in Mexico almost everyone has 6 or more kids. The older kids are expected to help with the babies and when I tell them I only want my two, everyone tells me to have more and not worry because my 9 year old daughter will have to help me with the youngest ones. 😤😑 As if I would put that responsibility on her like they do. Plus I just don't want any more kids.

This is life. Where else do you see two parents taking care of and being responsible for this many children? What is their salary? For everyone saying this is silly, remember, they are taking care of their children. They are not overpopulating the world. God blessed them with this many. There are so many women who choose not to have children. It will balance. I love this family.
@fairywingsonroses
@fairywingsonroses 4 ай бұрын
Great, I hope they are also responsible for helping all of those children find affordable housing, get an education, etc. in the future. It's irritating that my ONE child will face such fierce competition from everyone else's children for housing and other resources. People who have large families don't always think about the long-term impacts of exponential population growth that will rob ALL children (including theirs) of opportunities. So many people already can't afford things like housing. They didn't ask for more people on the planet to compete with, and the world was already overpopulated when they were born. Maybe all of the women who choose not to have children, or those who only have one like myself will balance things out eventually, but in the meantime, I personally feel like I'm drowning just to stay afloat financially on the bare minimum, and I really don't want to have to continually compete for resources with all of these people on the planet. I wish that people like this would consider that before they add one more human to the world. You're not doing those children any favors if they grow up and realize that they can't actually go anywhere because it's too expensive to do so.

I can tell she loves her siblings but she needs her own room. just to have her own space to have some alone time. lil ones its fine for them to share they tend to love it. but eventually they really need more space. They seem a nice family but it's very unfair to the older children who have no privacy or can have anything of their own without it being taken by another. Also I don't think people are concerned that their 18 kids are going to cause chaos or anything. More the fact that in the world 18 kids take a lot of resources that many people struggle to get. And 18 kids is several families worth or resources.

I felt like a miserable slave most of the time cuz all I ever heard was YOU'RE THE OLDEST, DO THIS! DON'T LET YOUR BROTHER SPLASH WATER ALL OVER THE FLOOR AT BATHTIME, ETC! ETC! EVEN THOUGH I WAS ONLY 2 years older than him! No matter whose house I was at, it was watch the little ones, don't let them do this or that! At 5 years old, I had babies propped up on pillows on me as my mom did chores and on and on! Washed dishes STANDING on a milk crate! I felt like a slave! It was chaotic and noisy but clean! We were poor but content, always fed but few gifts or presents! To sum up, I'D JUST RATHER BE DEAD, PERIOD! IN THESE TIMES, NO WAY! BUT GOOD LUCK AND GOD BLESS! OH, forgot to mention kidney punches from my grampa! So many of us that we lived in 2 houses! Oldest 4 or so lived with grandparents on same lot! Gramps would come up out of the blue, imo, and snatch me up and punch/slap the pee out of me! NEVER EVER knew what I did, to THIS day, to deserve this! The pain and shock was indescribable and I would spasm and piss like a dog or something! No one ever spoke up against this! Just go wash yourself and put dry clothes on! Yeah, fun times! Blessings! 😥😯🤤😫😮☠️😥😮☠️☠️🙏🙏
