Love the catapult hunting segment. Some old timers in the Appalachian hills (eastern US mountain range) have carried a "flip" or "slingshot" their entire lives. They use small stones mostly but are deadly accurate. They can't be any better than Wayne and Matt though.

Love to see good caty shooting. 11mm lead is ~equivalent to .44 cal which comes in at ~140 grains, ~ 7x heavier than a typical hunting .22 airgun pellet. One of these at 200 fps will deliver ~12ftlb

I really want to see what that rifle looked like after being left to the elements for 2 years...... I wonder how bad or good it is for aim and looks now

Good video- fantastic skill. I love the mooch for rabbits and squirrels. I however always kill an animal only if I can eat it. I'm far from criticising the need for pure pest control, but there is nothing better than good cooking after good ''mooch''.

Interesting show tonight. I have to admit, I am not a fan of the catty gangs, certainly not since we had 436 pheasants shot and left at 2 pen gates one night by the bottom feeders that did it. Great news about George Digweed winning another world title. I would be interested in a programme on why we outsource our partridges to France. Price, obviously, which is driven by.... regulations and husbandry. Specifically, how the layers are kept. Just a wild guess. It is a bit like saying we will outsource all our agriculture to the rest of the world and "rewild" all the UK's productive farm land. Works just great until something entirely predictable turns round and boots us in the knackers. Food security, bio-security and military security cannot be outsourced in the hope of earning a couple more quid. I think I have mentioned before that I believe we should be rearing and releasing grey partridge in the UK and not red legs. Yes, you can't put as many greys in a pen as red legs. Yes, they take a bit more care and you can't do what Paul does in the film, whizz through the cover crop on a quad, rounding them up and feeding rides and... yes, you will get a lower return on the number of birds you put down compared to pheasants and red legs. But, and it is a significant but, they are a native bird that is in decline and if we are serious about helping bring them back, releasing greys instead of Johnnie Foreigner strikes me as being sensible. It also removes some of the arguments of those that would happily see us closed down. BTW, did I miss the episode where the RSPB and WWT are exhorting BASC, CA and all the sanctimonious signatories to the "voluntary" ban on lead shot for game? They are demanding a legislated out right ban on lead shot for game shooting and want BASC, CA, et al to support them. Apparently, they took our own words and shoved them back down our throats. Who could have predicted that they would do that?

Thanks, Colin. It's mainly climate. Hatching birds here takes more gas bottles than in France. But we may learn to go back to gas after this year. As for the RSPB attack on shooting - you're right - waddya expect? They want Rebecca Pow to introduce a lead ban by statutory instrument. No debate. / Charlie

@@fieldsportstv thanks, Charlie, I'd forgotten about the gas for the layers. A significant cost these days.

What’s with the catapults man do some hunting stories with air rifle, rim fire and centre fire rifles. You’ve done about 4 catapult videos recently and I find it really boring.

No idea why anyone uses a toy to control pests, irresponsible. Get a sub 12ft pounds air rifle at a minimum for dealing with these pigeons and stop messing around. With my Air rifle, 12G shotgun and 17 HMR I have made a serious dent in the pigeons this year. Much better than a bloody slingshot.
@rafaljarosz70942 жыл бұрын
But you don't need any skill for this. With the slingshot you do.
@luigimerola8180 Жыл бұрын
The damage from a slingshot is much greater than an air rifle. Even if you confuse classical guitar, it's all about professional sound. The power they released was impressive. And then the practical disinfestation with the carapulta is enough to just hope that the edé target is more exciting, compared to a compressed air rifle that you aim and click the trigger!
