As a falconer and x game keeper I'm fortunate to see and understand the massive importance of managing a moor for the Raptors and game in a symbiotic relationship and moor importance to every red listed bird that would not be there if thay didn't have a safe haven to bring there brood up this is a national treasure don't lison to the rspb thay can only dream to to have 0.5 % of the same results thay are a business I've rehabilitated more Raptors as as many British falconers club members have !!!! If you phone them thay will pass it on !! Just do it and see how true this is there not interested its left to kind hearted falconers to step up unpaid

Let people that live in the countryside and make their livelihoods from the countryside live in it and get on with their lives. Let the people who don't, who live in the city and don't have anything better to do than mess up other people's lives shut up and leave these people alone.
@chantellerosebud17808 жыл бұрын
I live in the countryside and always have done. I would like future generations to enjoy the countryside as much as I do. I support conservation and apprise grouse shooting as it is unsustainable. This video is NOT a balanced picture. But of course it wouldn't be from the field sports crew.
@georgemorley10298 жыл бұрын
Chantelle Rosebud I don't know what you mean by apprise in this context.
@chantellerosebud17808 жыл бұрын
+George Morley That was a typo whitch auto corrected. I meant oppose.
@georgemorley10298 жыл бұрын
+Chantelle Rosebud Oh, I see. Now I understand. But you'll have to help me out now with why you think it's "unsustainable". It's been going on for hundreds of years. I don't see how that's an unsustainable practice? What is it you mean by "unsustainable"?
@chantellerosebud17808 жыл бұрын
Fossil fuel use has also been going on for hundreds of years, and is acknowledged to be unsustainable. Grouse shooting uses increasingly intensive land management practices, damaging gases released into the air when burning heather, use of lead shots, raptor persecution, including highly endangered hen harriers... I could go on... Or shall I move on to the 'unethical' factors?

7:55 Alternatives raised. 8:10 Commercial forestry - would see a massive increase of animal population of all types. The scenery would be incredibly beautiful and so much more than a barren scorched land without a single tree, deer or fox in sight. 8:21 Sheep farming - agreed 8:30 Do no nothing - at least more natural predators would be around and they'd always be balance, there always was before man came along.

3:51 the heather grows to a length and "breaks over" and gets to the stage where there's no nutritional value? Can anyone give any evidence for this?
@AmericanHero9117 жыл бұрын
Why not deploy wild deer to eat the heather instead of burning the land like that?
@shawndarling58557 жыл бұрын
Bruce Hood The ashes from the fields is good for the soil. Plus it helps with weeds and brush. every spring I have to help my dad burn his hillsides. It's called a controlled burn.
@AmericanHero9117 жыл бұрын
Shawn Darling No it really isn't good for the soil if it's burned away time after time. It leads to over acidification of the soil and dries it out way too much. Weeds and brush can be controlled by introducing a healthy amount of deer, goat and sheep into the area.
@shawndarling58557 жыл бұрын

i shoot so this is not from an anti but the moors themselves are an unnatural environment caused by farming sheep for example so if you are talking about conservation then at least be honest and say we are conserving the moors to preserve shooting if left to rewild it would look very different and would contain far more wildlife than it does as a managed moor.. Im not sure if most people know what they are talking about when you throw the word conservation about all you are conserving is the damage that has been caused to land in the first place. I shoot btw i just don't kid myself about the conservation benefits to the land as there are none other that the economy of shooting.sorry its the truth. conservation is a red herring if you are concerned about the land then rewinding is the only option
@tombellphotography82738 жыл бұрын
Just why would you kill Grouse Like Chris Packham said "the nasty Brigade" It's like Pheasant They are harmless birds What have they done to you well the answer is nothing. It's not fun at all Nature is a wonderful thing everyone should enjoy it not kill it. They just stroll on the farm or in gardens don't they??? :-(
@shawndarling58557 жыл бұрын
Tom Bell Hunting is used for population control. See where I live we have a lot of deer, but there has not been too many successful harvests of now the deer have chronic wasting disease. Humans can still eat a deer if it tests positive. I hunt and fish and trap with me and most people that enjoy those same activities I do it's not all about the kill or catch, it's about being together and having a great time. Money raised from hunting and fishing licenses and taxes on ammo go to land management and getting more land for public use.

Great video and looks like a great day. As an American when I pheasant shoot its more of a personal event or maybe up to 4 people with dogs . No driver. we have limits, depending on state, of 2 to 5 birds. Looks like a lot of birds are shoot on these hunts. what happneds to them. Are they cleaned and given to the shoots? The driver? sold by the estate? what is the common practice.

Love you guys!
