Yeah, Jaylon did say he wasn't gonna make it easy for Caleb. I love it, I thought I'd never see the day when our offense and defense are actually exchanging blows. You know, instead of our defense babying our offense or our defense being so bad our subpar offense managed to do slightly better.

@JEm-zc7xp You're misunderstanding me. I meant "babying" like to make them look like babies comparatively. Pampering would have been the word I used to express the opposite. The exchanging blows thing I meant seriously, last year our practices sucked, with how trash our defense was and how new to the team DJ was. There were no clear winners or losers. This year, I can see a clear line between the defense winning and the offense winning. It's 1000 times better

I think Bates will replace Davis and Shelton will be the center. And having Allen as CW’s primary over the middle option is an underrated long term investment. It will pay off well beyond Allen’s days as a Bear.

Many seem to miss the important point. Even Patrick Mahomes is rated by his production in the pocket when measuring his success. Roll outs and buying time are important PARTS of a quarterback's skill set. But in the end having an offensive line that allows the QB time to take a snap under center, fall back and then complete a pass while in rhythm is going to be the measuring stick for Caleb as it is for any QB. Fields failed. So, he needs to be able to read elements of the defense as he approches the center, call out adjustments if needed, get a clean snap with no false starts, process the defense as they move, and go through his progressions. These things are critical and are all part of the skill set Caleb is trying to develop. The receivers can't help him in these things though getting separation of course will give him the chance to throw a completion. I think he will be an excellent quarterback but I also believe he, like 99% of rookie quarterbacks, will be somewhat erratic at times and we will see that in plays that "should have been completed" that weren't simply because he's still learning. One reason that Swift and the other backs are so critical to this Bears offense. And nothing will help him more than a great defense in his face at practice showing how small the windows are when trying to throw a pass against a great defense. As Eberflus noted, a great learning lesson for Caleb when he double hitches on timing route: interception. No one had to point anything out to him. A college completion is an NFL interception. Lessoned learned.

JJ earned every penny, and there’s one thing I’m sure he wants to be better at and that’s his turnovers,sacks, pick 6’s etc.. it’s just a matter of time before he gets to learn the offense and play without taking too many risks. I was really upset when they left Justin out in the wind but I’m glad he’s in a place with a winning history of quarterbacks and he got to choose where he wanted to play, we’re going to miss him, and I really hope Caleb Williams takes over and becomes a great starter for the Bears, for the next 10, 15years or more.. Bear down
