Series 1 ooh la la. Them were the days when i used to slip on new timing belts on the mk2 cavs & astra's in minutes, slip off then slip on. Can't do that now on newer cars. Different tensioner setup on my mk4 astra than this. When you fit a new tensioner on these and start to turn the crankshaft the pointer on the tensioner swings left&right and takes around 2 revolutions for the tensioner to settle and then the pointer stays still if you continue to turn the crank some more revolutions. When this happens you know its all tensioned up. Top video.

Give you £500 lol That series 1 man alive! When I was at Uni I was a bad boy in a MK2 RS turbo...had it set up by Power Engineering in Uxbridge running 14psi, 192hp with a slipping clutch lol. Broke that dogshit IB5 gearbox TWICE, layshaft bearing. Second time it cracked the gearbox casing outside my rented house at Uni lol. Garbage gearbox. D644 SJN I’m sure of it! Also had a MK3 RS1600i in stratos silver, FLD 567Y if anyone knows? Sold it to the registrar of the RS owners club, Tony Fuller maybe?? This was over 20 years ago hahah. First owner was director of Rothmans cigarettes in central London! Had another series 2 after, an 88 with 90 spec Zolda trim lol. Wow, it’s all coming back now! Broken gearbox again....E586 JRK maybe? Never got to own a series one, shame. Still want one but not for the crazy money they go for... Only around 7 series ago I was clearing out some stuff I still had including a brand new 4 spoke RS steering wheel as in your mates car...I still believe I have a genuine RS1600i washer tank with the FMC part numbers on somewhere and a full black stripe kit!

I once rebuilt a 1.6 capri engine which blew a ring whilst I was caning it down the bypass,the car instantly filled with smoke,lol It was my first engine rebuild but I got the Big end bearing caps mixed up and it wouldn't turn at all even after my mate towed me round the block trying to jump start it but just burning the clutch instead.My first lesson,dont mix the bearing shells up.I had to take it all apart again,Happy days

Had a few CVH belts go on me. Learned how to replace them and strip the head down to replace valves etc with a Haynes Manual 😀. Pleased I knew someone who worked in a Ford main dealer for discount. 😀

I got fotos of all of them. When’s the next video coming up of the rs turbo find. I’ve sat and watched all of them this morning. I no it’s a long shot I’ve got a ford connect silver and the bloke I bought it of took the stickers of and used a green pad to get the glue of the cock. It’s left some nasty marks. Wots best way to polish this up

You could possibly try machine polish them out if that don’t work you may have to wet sand them with some 1500 grit and 2000 grit then machine polish 👍👍👍

And that won’t fuk me paint up. It would polish out would it if I sanded first. Would you recommend using a machine to do this. It’s me Work van but me pride and joy. And it lets it down Abit. I do polish it. But it just don’t do anything really. I took it to a garage body shop and he wanted £500 to polish me van. Does that sound about right. Sorry to bother you. Your a great help.
