The hose that goes to the cabin can be removed entirely. It's hard to reach, but all you have to do is squeeze the plastic ring on the outside and pull it. It's like the plastic squeeze ring that connects the emission line that connects to the engine and goes to the intake. You can see what it looks like @ 2:47 on THIS video. > kzbin.info/www/bejne/fZTVaX9rrpmDnrs

I removed mine as it cracked and lost a lot of boost. Since removing it the car is faster and too quiet. Time for an exhaust now

Hello from California ❗️😃 The location of the clamps on my hose were so far back that I gave up on it. However I found out there is something called a "hose clamp removal tool." It is on a cable so you can attach it to the clamp and squeeze it from the handle attached to the cable. It's on Amazon and you can get a better idea of what it looks like. There is also a YT video on it. Good info for the future. Edit: thehose clamp was too large to fit into the engine bay so I returned it. Gave up for awhile and then took it to the dealer. I think I feel some gains but most importantly notice the noise reduction.

Oh thanks. After I read my post I was thinking that I was setting myself up for a snarky answer. Thanks for not making me feel dumb. Anyway so the boost pressure also comes out of the other side of the symposer as well and not just the sound?
@AdamRainey5 жыл бұрын
Technically, yes but it doesn't flow freely. Think of the symposer as blocking the boosted air until it builds to a certain point at which point it lets a bit through a flappy thing which creates a bit of noise. It is small enough to not be regarded as a 'boost leak' but it is a waste of a little bit of boost pressure
@matthewblunderbuss45455 жыл бұрын
Thanks just got the Cobb Catback and don't see a reason to keep the symposer in.
@AdamRainey5 жыл бұрын
I think any aftermarket exhaust makes the symposer need to come out. Cheers :)
@diegudr5 жыл бұрын
Oh I get it now (albeit slowly). That explains why the sound is so sudden at around 3000 rpm. That is the one thing I don't like about it, the way you have nothing and then it is loud all of a sudden. I guess after the warranty I will look to install a catback system that is loud but not too loud; yet a steady, nice sound.
@AdamRainey5 жыл бұрын
I defo reccomend this plus a good catback, it is what I had and loved it!

My real question about the symposer delete is, the hose that goes in to your cabin, when people are just pushing it aside and leaving it open. Are you not giving small rodents a real easy way in to the cabin? I've saw a few Rat nests in engine bays, not mine so far lol, but it's possible..
@AdamRainey6 жыл бұрын
The hose is quite a small diameter so the rodent would need to be very very small so I would say, outside of some exceptional circumstance, it should be fine. That being said I am golden because of the extra bung that I got in my Boomba kit :D
@danw89566 жыл бұрын
Hi do you know the size of that extra bung?
@AdamRainey6 жыл бұрын
Not quite sure but if you get something that will fit roughly, it will be ok as it is not under pressure
@danw89566 жыл бұрын
My same thinking, just for aesthetic purposes to be honest :)

At 2:04 that pipe under the symposer what is this called because I crashed my st sadly and not sure what it’s called need a replacement
@AdamRainey6 жыл бұрын
It is one of the boost pipes i think you are talking about. On the aftermarket you may have to buy a whole set of boost pipes, not sure if it will be easy to find just that one...

Is there any reason you didn’t go for a Mountune symposer? Figured from all your other Mountune mods that would have been the one you went for. Great vids keep em up!
@AdamRainey7 жыл бұрын
Craig Lloyd I would have, I just had a number of other boomba racing red aluminium parts under the hood so I decided to match them instead as they stand out a bit more than the black mountune kit 😀

Nice vid as always mate. I must be one of the few that like the symposer. I have the Mountune 230 with some other Mountune bits and I just pull the window down a bit when I want to hear the “real” noise lol Just concerned about this boost leak and how would you know if it’s happening. Btw what are your thoughts on the mk8? Will you change yours for one when it comes out?
@AdamRainey7 жыл бұрын
Cheers mate! I wouldn't say I dislike the symposer as such, I just figure the exhaust is giving enough sound now to not need the symposer. It is definitely just a personal preference though :) For the boost leak thing, beyond you feeling any change in terms of power delivery, your options would be either boost gauge or getting the car on a dyno to see if you are down on power. I wouldn't be too worried tho, I think its a pretty rare occurrence
@gooner70_ns7 жыл бұрын
Adam Rainey cheers buddy. I appreciate the advice. I know you like mountune. Any plans to visit their hq? Maybe their next cars and coffee morning? That will be next year i think

Cant you just unhook the hose, rubber band a sock around the end to keep dust out. Then rubber band a sock around the symposer? I know that sounds ghetto but would that produce the same result sound wise? I just thought I might try that temporarily until I have time to do what you did. What do you think?
@AdamRainey5 жыл бұрын
It wouldn't work the same though because boost pressure comes through this hose and a sock isn't going to be air tight so you would have a boost leak. You could use some kind of strong rubber sock or a bung of the appropriate size and then clamp it down but that wouldn't look as nice as a machined product like this or have the benefit of being able to run a boost gauge if you want to

@GabrielSTEFAN9434 жыл бұрын
@@bongodave13 Is the sound symposer electronic or mechanic ?
@AdamRainey4 жыл бұрын
it is passive/physical. Boosted air is passed through a flappy diaphragm to make a noise
@GabrielSTEFAN9434 жыл бұрын
@@AdamRainey Oh so I should be able to retrofit it to another car. Do you think it would work on an N/A car ? Any idea of how to get the noise into the cabin ? How is it directed into the cabin in the case of the Fiesta ?
@albertolivera72716 жыл бұрын
What are the pros and cons of doing that ?
@AdamRainey6 жыл бұрын
Pros: remove fake noise so that you can hear real car sounds, remove potential boost leak, slight potential boost gain Cons: slightly fiddly to get clamp off, less 'performance' sound without having an aftermarket exhaust

Adam Rainey thanks man !

Someone told me if I just disconnect the ribbed plastic tube I won’t need the symposer kit because the box is sealed and won’t leak... do you know something about that?
@AdamRainey6 жыл бұрын
Doing this won't get rid of the boost leak issues that some people get with the symposer and also it will still make a noise, you just will hear less of it in the cabin so really this is not the best solution
