The way a bigger intercooler works is not by cooling the boost down , but rather allowing a higher density of air to flow because of it's bigger volume. When compressing the same mass of air in a smaller cooler , due to volume reasons , the acceleration of air diminishes vs that of the air flowing through a larger cooler. That's where heat soak comes in from the stock cooler because heat is restrictive energy to the flow of air.

Thanks Clive. It's just had the cambelt and waterpump done this week, so I will be sharing my thoughts about that in the next video - hopefully in the coming week or the week after. Stay tuned!

I'm at stage 1 so far and the car is a blast to drive, especially with the whoosh short shifter mod. It is tempting to go to stage 2, but that can easily get me into trouble.

Nice car man! I bought mine 2yrs ago, had stage 2 aswell and now running the x58 turbo w injectors 😂

Sabre tuning would be a great mapping company to use. They have done my MK2 focus RS to stage 4 and my fiesta ST180 to stage 2 both maps been on the cars for years and brilliant.

Thanks Dave for this insight. Yes, Sabre are also on my list because as you rightly say they have strong maps for the ST180.

@@aamersandooPretty sure that needs changing for Stage 2. Doesn’t it? If you change the exhaust after the cat then the cat is still restrictive. Correct me if I’m wrong.
@aamersandoo7 ай бұрын
Your right, a decat or sports cat is the best approach to make maximum power at stage 2. However, most maps at stage 2 will still give good power gains with the stock cat. Personally, I prefer sacrificing a bit of power by keeping the stock cat. I might get a sports cat in the future but will stay away from a decat for obvious reasons. @@-S_White-

@@aamersandooIn my opinion an induction kit, bigger intercooler and changing the cat plus map is what makes it Stage 2 otherwise isn’t just a high power Stage 1? Guess it depends on how you define the stages but I’m going by most tuners websites. I agree with you on the decat side of things though. A decat probably isn’t necessary at Stage 2 over a sports cat unless you want it to spit flames as well as being illegal.

this induction system is bad, you catch the hot air under the hood
@mikegaming3826Ай бұрын
doesnt matter with a big intercooler
@aamersandoo15 күн бұрын
@Kamui.. Incorrect. The ITG induction system is away from the hot air and sits under the headlight by the bumper. Also, testing reveals the ITG is the best intake of it's type for the ST180.

Sorry mate but you spent all that time and effort on your car and it looks like you chopped the rear bumper out with an axe.and havnt even got the tail pipes in the middle.. come on.😮😮.
@aamersandoo7 ай бұрын
Thanks for the comment. Regarding the bumper - it has not been chopped, it has the original cutting as came from factory. The bumper cutout has some heat resistant tape which has frayed along the edges. It is not noticeable at all when the car is on the ground. I agree the tail pipes are slightly off-centre - this is how they have been manufactured. The system underneath the car is perfectly aligned, but the tail-pipes were not. I have read at least one other case on a USA forum that had a similar problem - they rewelded the backbox hangers to get it sitting straight, but it doesn't really concern me enough to do that.
