this was my second football game after the glorious "european championship 92" and it was revolutionary for me! I used to scorewith Van Basten with Ac Milan from the middle half. And you could score from corner kicks too with nice curls. Good old Fifa series..Those were the days this series was on their peaks. Then came 97 and another revolution; 98. And then everthing started to decline..

I haven't played Fifa 96 in years, so I wouldn't know if I will find it enjoyable today or not, but what's certain is that it was much much better than Fifa 94/95. It was a huge step forward in the evolution of Football video games.

@i386dx Lucky you. Preud' Homme is among the best goalies in Fifa'96. Those were the days... My 486dx had only 8MB RAM and can play not more than 2 matches; then memory overflow occurs. To play tournaments I had to save after every match.

International Superstar soccer deluxe was excellent on the SNES and lead to Pro Evolution Socceron the Playstation and ISS on the N64.

used to play with Ajax on this game, they were amazing back then. You could just give the ball to Ovemars and run round everyone and pass it into the net. One of the biggest flaws of the game was that if you got close to the keeper and pressed pass he wouldn't have time to dive and it would pretty much always go in. If you pressed shoot the keeper would save it - weird!

I think you can run Fifa96 in DOS. Just download and set-up the free DosBox, then run Fifa96 from that environment.

Brilliant game, this was when FIFA was actually good (along with '95). I suppose you would have to have been there in '96 to appreciate this game.

Gameplay is better than the MegaDrive version? I actually disagree with you on this one. If anything they messed something up somewhere along the lines and I found FIFA 96 on PSX and PC unplayable compared to the MegaDrive version which was a more simplistic version.

Oh wow, there's a PC version of this? I played it on PSX as a child... best goal I ever scored was from the halfway line :D Though I remember the nets on the PSX weren't so much nets as just translucent polygons. (On second thought, that might've been Actua Soccer) And it always made a 'clicking' sound every time you scored, which confused me.

Fifa 2000 was also good i think in 1999 was the revolution of Fifa,,, PES IN PS3 IS VERY WORST THAN Fifa but in PC is better but i usually play in PS3 so for me FIFA is THE BESTTTTT
