Fifth Harmony ~ BO$$ ~ Vocal Analysis (2023 Update)

I always had doubts about the vocals in this song. I kept hearing another voice but it never sounded like one of the girls. The “Boss” and harmonies in the chorus didn’t sound like the girls either. I’ve heard them harmonized before and that didn’t sound like them. I did some digging and made a discovery.

Tayla did Dinah so dirty.😭 Glad you did this bc I’ve been saying Dinah doesn’t sing a lick on this song even though everyone loves to put her in the bridge. What I don’t understand is why she would do Lauren’s low harmony live while Lauren took the melody in the prechoruses. It would’ve made more sense to keep Lauren on the low harmony and just give Dinah that one prechorus lead since she literally didn’t get anything on the studio record.

I also don't hear Dinah on this song at all! There's a vocal that kinda sounds like her on the bridge (the multiple yeah's), but, the more I hear those, the less it sounds like Dinah. She said on that interview that she wasn't on 2 songs at all, which would be Boss and Sledgehammer, and said she had to be there, even tho she didn't record a note that day, which means she didn't really sing anything at all... The only thing that confuses me is when she said "nah, I was just in the backgrounds or..." Maybe she was referring to the fact she didn't sing, but, nonetheless, she had to be present and, therefore, in the backgrounds of the studio, but idk. This line threw me off a bit.

The boss and the shuhhhs still sounds like everyone I know that Dinah doesn't sings the 'boss' sounds like only Lauren and Ally I don't hear Camila the lead sounds like them and the background is Tayla, the shuhhhs I hear Camila leading idk about Lauren and Ally they might be there but it might not be audible the bridge is only Ally and Lauren, Lauren sings low harmony can hear it in the 'yeahs' lot of people thinks Dinah sings in the bridge but its Lauren ant it doesn't even sounds like Dinah 6:49 Normani sings in the last 'yeah' idk if that's an adlib Because idk why producers are like that you have 5 girls in a group to sing but yet they put background singers like really what are the girls here for then look at Dinah she doesn't even sing a single note and Tayla isn't even in the group and sings more than her Dinah says in a interview that she wasn't there when they were testing the songs that's why she isn't in the song and also she asid that her voice way not good for the song like she has a soulful voice because Dinah doesn't sings in 3 songs I think BO$$, Sledgehammer, and Tellin' Me because of the same reason like Lauren in Worth It She said even if they doesn't sing in the song they still had to be there in the official video but only when they sing the chorus you will see them in the background

Unfortunately no. She did say on the TERRELL show that she didn’t sing in this song, but I wasn’t sure if she just meant lead vocals or in general.
