A great mix. Trad Music is folk music, it evolves as the “folks” play what they like in the style of what’s suited to the instruments and the folk-type music settings - which traditionally means acoustic instruments in a setting meant to be enjoyed by means of simple, honest, musicianship. No reason there can’t be modern songs that continue that tradition.

I see this is a fairly recent post. Just a fantastic mix Katy. I'm trying to add more Irish tunes to my rep, as they significantly lighten the mood compared to the Scottish ones. Will definitely give this a try; thank you so much. This may be a meld of two separate tunes but they really do seem to flow into each other, with a delightfully wide range on the scales.

Do you have special mics for recording outside, or do you record inside, and just take the video doing it again outside? How do you ensure you are syncing the audio to the video during editing?
@KatyAdelson2 жыл бұрын
I usually record inside and film the video separately, but not always - I have recorded outside (it’s just a lot harder to do since there are usually cars honking, or dogs barking, or people clapping and asking if they can leave a tip, which is nice of them…stuff like that…). The biggest enemy of a recording studio outside is wind, but they have fluffy windscreens you can put around your microphone. They don’t work well in high-wind situations, but they work great for light breezes. They are often referred to as “dead cats” by video creators (…😭 I love cats…), which I believe is a brand - but it basically looks like a blob of fluff that you put on your microphone. Syncing is a headache, and probably my least favorite thing to do. For every scene, I usually play the whole song while listening to the backing track with headphones. Then I just align all the different violin scenes with the backing track in my video editor, and edit to different takes where there aren’t people walking around the background, or I’m not making scary concentration faces while I play, lol…
