Thankyou! This was easily understood. One thing I learned for propagation is to use a potato peeler and scape 3 sides up 4 inches from the bottom before putting in soil. You’ll get many more roots that way much sooner.

What an excellent video from a thoroughly likeable gentleman. I live in England and have an 8ft fig tree in the garden of a property we moved into eight months ago. The figs are delicious, but I've noticed the tree has grown rapidly throughout our summer. Come winter, I intend to prune the tree back to a sensible size and will put to good use what I have learned here.

Like this guy, hes all about the figs! Question, I have a brown turkey I planted at least 3 or 4 years back. It's really not growing all that well. I give it bindings out of my chicken house in straw at the base for mulch. It's just not getting up there like I feel it should. it's about the size of that BT in this video BTW...Never have pruned it, but will do so this year, and see if that maybe gets it going. Now that I know how to that is...thanks

Thank you so much for taking the time to make this video. We moved into a house that had a fig tree which last year did not do well. I'm used to the abundant growth of figs as they grow in Louisiana. I've pruned this one as it was only getting leaves and fruit at the very top. No leaves or little branches growing out, except at the top and the tree was about 8 feet tall. I had never seen that before, Actually, the tree is combined of several tall branches. I hope I have "helped" it! I hope now it will sprout out and not just "up."

Hi! I know this is an older post, but hoping to ask a few questions regarding the propagation portion. 1. should you only try to grow from the tips (i.e.: 12" cuttings from each tip?) or does that not matter as long as there are nodes? 2. how long do you keep them in the plastic, watering daily? 3. would you recommend adding anything like perlite to the soil or rooting hormone to the cutting? GREAT video - my 20 foot fig tree that I adopted with my new house needs a lot of love and I can't wait to prune and propagate this fall! THANK YOU

Hi, can you give me some advice, I live in Scotland and got a Turkey fig for Christmas it was on my windowsil and started to grow lots of leaves so I put it outside in a polly tunnel so it could get more light, it was doing great for 2 weeks then we got a cold snap in the weather, when I checked on my fig all the leaves had gone limp and shriveled. if I remove all the shriveled leaves will my fig regrow new leaves. I have brought my fig back indoors till winter has gone. Cheers Tom.
