Marshall and the Furies fought the exact same way she fought her prior opponents that lead to KOs. There were zero changes in this approach. Whether this same old method is the fault of the Furies lack of preparation, Marshall's strong belief she was better than Shields or her thinking Shields was pillow fisted and had no power to even back her up, it still can't be equated to a bad fight. More accurate assessment would be that Shields is better than Marshall assumed and Marshall and her camp underestimated Shields' boxing prowess and stamina. Shields and her trainer, John Jackson, tailor make their strategy for their opponent. Each time Marshall plodded her jab out there to set up her KO power right, Shields saw it and just moved out of the way each time. It was slow and telegraphed. Shields conserved energy staying on the ropes, fighting off the back foot and winning the majority of the 50/50 exchanges. Marshall fought the best fight she knew how to fight..it just wasn't good enough for a better fighter who can actually take her punches and doesn't abandon their game plan due to injury (blurred vision).
