Disgrace to the sport

It's passion. Just normal human behaviour. Some people are so sensitive.

Completely unacceptable - the aggro, the language and the soft umpiring. Do we expect families to come to this with their children and be enthused by the sport?

Not as bad as going to a football match (Premier League to National League) and certainly not as bad as taking your kids to the local park. and it's a referee or Commisionaire not umpire.

@@martynhepworthArchiveSpeedway So two wrongs make a right then? BTW irrelevant pedantry --- An umpire is a person whose job is to make sure that a sports contest or game is played fairly and that the rules are not broken. The umpire's decision is final. Synonyms: referee,

This is Cycle Speedway, not cricket. the man in the middle is the referee and has been since the bomb sites in the 50's and now known as Commissionaires. I don't suppose you have ever sworn in frustration or anger, which is an unfortunate common occurrence nowadays.

@@martynhepworthArchiveSpeedway I'm well aware of the CS titles Martyn - I legitimately used umpiring as a verb and not a noun - but that's a distraction. The point remains that this fighting (as you called it) behaviour is not acceptable and despite what you say would surely be a red card in any football match "Premier League to National League"? This type of incident clearly divides opinion, and inevitably attract publicity (good or bad?). As with all contact sports some rough and tumble with controlled aggression is part of it. The issue is - where's the line? Sport is also about discipline, respect and fair play. I can't think of many sports where this sort of behaviour would not have led to a "red card"?

The word fight on this video is mainly used as clickbait, the melee seen quite in the video footage is clearly just 'handbags' and was judged by the 'umpire' 😂 correctly. Unfortunately most people on social media like to immediately denounce and abhor the sports they love just to get a reaction. I cover Cycle Speedway on this channel to give it as much publicity as I can and video action of a certain flavour will always get more attention that of a standard meeting. I don't think a few shouty words and a push deserves match bans and fines, obviously you do.
