Fight! Samsung Trade-in Issue Resolved

This same thing happened to both my wife and I. We got it resolved in a similar manner. But I can see this being a serious problem for some people because suddenly you can have over $1000 (or $2000 in our case) on your credit card that you were not expecting. I also know some people don't have the knowledge to work through the issue the way we do. I imagine that could potentially cascade into even bigger problems. I've read about this so much that I wouldn't be surprised to eventually hear about a class action lawsuit against Samsung or the processing company.

A friend of mine had the same thing happen to him. But he had pictures and videos as well and he had the same result you did. Because of that I always do the same when trading in with them. Glad you got your situation resolved.

This also happened to me. As soon as I said i have video proof that i sent in a working device, they didn't even ask for the video. They said the issue was resolved and i didn't need to send proof. I really hate they way they are trying to catch someone who doesn't have evidence. What shady business tactics.

I recently sent my S6 Lite as a tradein for the S9. The package never arrived. This was in Texas. I contacted Samsung and customer service said no problem, and they would not charge me. First time I had an issue, but Samsung did a great job of resolving it.

Did you send it to Hyla (Assurant) center in Texas? If so, a LOT of users on Reddit have been reporting this very issue. I read so many that it prompted me to record video & take lots of photos of two devices we used for trade-ins for the Galaxy Watch 6 Classic. I have never had to do that before. Glad your issue was resolved.

I'm pretty sure it did go to Texas, I recall seeing that on the label. This is a first for me, and I've traded in a lot of stuff with them over the years. I've been seeing those reddit posts too, lots of horror stories out there. I'm with you, record everything.

Heck yeah bro, no way I was paying that $1,000. It was so weird on how fast they reversed it. It's like they knew they were up to no good before I even started chatting with them. Thankfully the resolution was easy enough.

The same thing happened to me!!! My fold 4 was in perfect shape (even under warranty) and under chat they also manually overwrote it. Just like you, I was upset about it as well.

I am asking myself if I can use the touch input of my tablet when I use the second screen option with my galaxy book3? Because I am thinking of buying the book3 ultra and it would be perfect if I use like Photoshop on the book3 and when I do the second screen on my tablet that I use Photoshop on my tablet with the pen. Or is the tablet in the second screen Mode really just a monitor? I hope my question is understandable😂Thank you very much!

Hi, thanks for stopping by! I totally get your question, no worries. So yes, you can do touch input on the tablet when it's used a second display, it's not just a monitor. I'm not sure of how much functionality you'll have with the s pen with photoshop, but the basics should all work fine.

I don't think that's possible, it will have to be sent back via the carrier on the return label. Do this my friend - Make you sure you take a couple pics and preferably a video also of you packing it up, and also take a quick video of you walking in and walking out of the fed-ex shipment center with receipt in hand. If there's any issues with Samsung receiving your trade-in (it's happened to me 2x now), all it takes is mentioning that you have pics and vids of packing it up and taking it to fed-ex, and it will get resolved.

I got an email stating that my Fold 4 trade in wasnt factory reset and that i was being charged back $1000. I didnt send in a Fold 4! I sent in an S22 Ultra! Chatting and calling did no good and I sent them pictures of my phone that I took just before i boxed it up (front, back, screen with IMEI, front screen with date and time). I didnt take video, but asked the for the video of them unboxing my tradein and didnt get a reply to that. I filed a complaint with the BBB because now I'm out both my S22 Ultra and $1000! What a scam! DO NOT BUY FROM SAMSUNG! I'm still waiting to hear the status of my watch trade in and don't have much hope that will go smoothly.

Start a new chat, and keep doing that until you get the result you should get. It'll work, you'll basically start over with your complaint and they'll treat as new.

Great content. Know how to avoid this from happening? Trade your phone in through your carrier like I do. They give almost the same. Trade in value as samsung. Plus they can see right there that your phone your trading in is in perfect condition. Plus you get to see your new phone in front of your eyes to make sure it's in perfect condition. And they can help you right there with any questions.

I traded my S7 plus with no issues. The S9 tablet is horrible for streaming movies or tv shows with dark scenes unless the brightness is at 100%. It was the same issue with my S7. I'm disappointed but keeping it.

I know that my phone is authentic because I bought it from a telephone carrier brand with official distribution rights to Samsung. Since I moved to the US, do you think I will be able to trade in my S23 in the US? And the buds 2 pro that came with it? Ps. I also left the boxes for both of them in Mongolia.

Hi my friend, thanks for another visit. So I did some googling around for you, and it appears there shouldn't be any issues trading in a device from another country. As a precaution though, I suggest contacting Samsung via chat, just to make sure and to have them add a note to your account that you'll be trading in a device from another region. Not having the boxes is no big deal, they don't care about that.

Thanks for stopping by! You'll have roughly 10 days left once you get the new device, that's how long it usually equates to. The good thing though is that Samsung will send you plenty of emails and text updates letting you know you have XYZ number of days left, and they'll start sending those about 5 or 7 days in advance. It's one of those 2, I just can't recall at the moment. Please make sure to take plenty of pictures and perhaps a video of you boxing it for trade-in. I typically also shoot a quick video of me walking up the fed-ex shipment store, and one more of me leaving with the shipping receipt in hand.

It takes quite a while for them to check it in and then check on it. I think the total time on mine was roughly 3 weeks. I probably could have gone that route, but I really didn't want the $1,000 charge on card while it all got settled. I hopped on that chat so fast my head was spinning, lol. Update , they said there will be no charge to me, with in the first 2 minutes. I don't know what is going on with whoever is receiving the trade in devices, but they lie and send very low quality videos

Same issue here but a bit different trades in a Samsung tab 8 for a tab 9 I dropped my package with FedEx everything I thought was fine days later In getting emails and threats saying they never received it so I went and check the tracking info and there was none I mean it like it wasnt even scanned into the system. So I contacted Samsung they couldn't help me it's like the lady had no idea what I was talking about contacted FedEx they can help me without a active tracking number went to the store I dropped the package off at and they had no resolution either. Idk what to do at this point I'm down two tablets cause my tab 9 just got remotely disabled by Samsung and my tab 8 is my best guess someone else's home as it was stolen

I'm sorry for the slow reply, and also for this crummy situation. If you have photos of you leaving the fed ex office with your receipt, that should be enough for them I would think. If you don't photo or video evidence, then it's really tough. That really sucks, I'm sorry to hear about this. When I haven't found resolution with one Samsung chat person, I'll try another the next day. Sometimes you may get treated completely differently, so it might be worth a try.
